Not counting brass, I'm running around $0.29 each for .223 and $0.163 for .45 ACP plinking/practice loads. That's Bass Pro component prices. You can beat that buying in bulk from the right source. Self defense or hunting loads jumps way up.

250 -115 nosler hpbt $65. Imr $30. Cci $6 for 100. Sorry my math was a bump off $0.45. I'm sure that would go down if I were to buy my powder in 8 pd an primers in bulk. Still per shot it has went down a lot.

Add brass cost in there at market price. :)

Once fired brass can be found for $.45 or less, so yeah. I've found bulk SSA ammo for $.82 plus shipping.

The reason for my question is that I'm thinking of getting into that caliber.

45ACP 200grain SWC (H&G 68 clone) cost breakdown (not counting brass as I picked all of mine at a range, so basically free):

    Bullet: Lead @1.10/lb = 7000grains/lb = 35 bullets/lb = .031/bullet (less than 3 cents)
    Powder: Bullseye $20/lb = 7000 grains/lb = 1400 rounds/lb @5 grains/round = .014/round (less than 2 cents)
Primer: Winchester Large Pistol Primers $40/1000 = .04/primer
Lube: Homemade from Beeswax, Crisco, paraffin and lanolin less than .01/round

Total (even rounding up): .10/round (10 cents)

I can give another word of advice on the Chargemaster. Don't dump a container of powder in it without closing the powder drain first. :yell:

Haha. I gave that same advice at my reloading class. Lost about 1/4lb of Tac before I knew it.

Now I feel better. I dumped about 1/4 lb. of 4198 on the bench. I salvaged most of it because the bench was clean for a change.

Just decapped and resized my first 200 cases.. It didnt take long at all but I know it will go faster when I get my press actually mounted to a bench instead of this flimsy piece of scrap plywood clamped to my front porch.
