I guess ya haven't heard of the death tax then huh lol ;-)
Got me, except that I was referring to taxes collected on alcohol, such as sales and excise taxes. Alcohol doesn't die... does it? : )

(Uh-oh... aren't excise taxes sometimes levied at time of manufacture? Yes, the tax is included in the final price paid by the consumer, but... maybe I just shot myself in the foot : )

Then again, shouldn't excise taxes only apply to goods manufactured for commerce?

All sorts of things they do that shouldn't be. It's why Texas did the no tax stamps for cans that was made in the state. Those taxes should only apply when crossing state lines is thier basis.
Like how you find 10 layers of stamps on cigs and some liquor bottles. Alot of hands get greased along the way.
Its all Greek to me tho.

Yep... I would say it should be where, if someone claims to be making it for personal use, and you catch them selling gallons out the back door, you got 'em. Absent that, it shouldn't be an issue.

As for taxes, my old man, who passed away at 84 years of age last year, was the tax guru. Take my word when I tell you that he never embellished, exaggerated, etc. But one time when I said "The reason the tax code is 7000 pages is so that no one can know everything that's in there!", he replied:

"Oh, I know everything that's in there."

And keep in mind that most legislators, tax preparers, accountants, etc., actually have no idea. Most of them (as do the general public) operate based on propaganda about the tax code, and/or are willfully ignorant since they profit from the misinformed. He could quote sections from memory not only from the code itself, but also from the implementing regulations that swell the final count to about 40,000 pages. I would never want to spend the time he did studying it, so now I'm screwed other than the stuff I picked up by osmosis, along with the loads of documentation he provided over the years.

The best synopsis I've seen is "Theft by Deception: Deciphering the Federal Income Tax", by Larken Rose (available on DVD now). My father said the only error in Larken's explanation was (if I recall correctly) when he described "foreign income" as referring exclusively to income received from employers in foreign countries, whereas my father said that it refers to income received from outside the Federal District by residents of the District, including income from employers in any of the states.

Here's a link to the VHS version, but note my disclaimer: don't try this at home : )

Well that kills it. NO DISTILLATION. Forgot to mention Alabama has a monopoly on liquor sales. All liquor must go thru the ABC Board's hands. So it kills independent liquor sales.
Yep... note that I was never saying that it was legal, only that it should be. Just as it should be legal to keep and bear arms, but quite often it is not. There are many in prison for merely having a firearm, and that should not be.

OP can you cite some law or rule that allows you to distill liquor w/o a license? I'm sincerely interested. My dad made moonshine back in the late 70's through the mid 80's and it most certainly was illegal then, and in Florida, still is.

I have the guts to my dad's old still and believe me if it were legal my brother and I would be hard at it.

Interesting the site has not nuked this thread. Next up, tips on growing my own marijuana... you know, just for personal use.

Laws sometimes change quietly... so if there's something to learn here, am all ears.

There are restrictions on how much you can produce and give as “gifts,” vs selling. TBH, I need to review the Code anyway. I’ll probably only make enough to give away a few jars at Christmas and keep the rest for the hunting camp bonfires.

This "Code" you speak of is what interests me. Please cite it when you have a minute.

I was wondering when Mary Jane would show up.
Hell, that's sold in the open now. " dispensary" it's the new opium. I think alabama has them now.
Even crazier, they are now pushing to give people "in a bad mood" LSD, psychedelic mushrooms, and MDMA!

And I've noticed a sudden u-turn (in the media) re: the legalization of weed. They are "finding" that people who smoke 100 joints a day end up with various "problems". Well, no shit! Too much water will kill you! How about we quit making policy that affects the majority based on what idiots and criminals do? Even as they coddle the idiots and criminals!

(note that the author appears to be a "victimhood" idiot who raised another idiot... a "disability activist"... really? Look at how the son she raised ended up. Kinda like the "Child Behavior Specialist" who was shot and killed by her own 10 year-old son!)
