We launched from 84 and turned around at the waterfall and headed back. Just upstream from from the waterfall a little ways is this old bridge (Cohassett).

    Wish I’d taken more pictures.
Had my Iphone well protected and its a pain to pull and re-tuck when underway.

You could launch from 84 and pull kayaks at Cohassett bridge I guess....

Would need a long rope to pull yak up the bank.

Just upstream from Cohassett bridge is ruins from what looks like a concrete dam made for some sort of ancient venture?

looks nice and peaceful, nothing like being in nature

I highly recommend the book 'A Canoeing & Kayaking Guide to Florida`
Not the best maps, but lots of good info.

I have paddled Perdido, Coldwater, Sweetwater, Juniper, Blackwater, Yellow, and Choctawhatchee. I have some maps from the book with some important notes/ additions that help a lot if anyone is interested . P.M. Me your cell number, and the river/ Section you want to paddle, and I can send you a picture of my modified maps from the book.

Something I have been doing since buying my own canoe last year is recording the water gauge levels after every trip I take. This will help in the future to judge how the river will be for a future trip. Write down the water height and discharge and any notes about the trip. Ran aground often, strong current etc.

What section are you doing? Right now the section between 31 and 84 would be tough with the current level of 3.2 feet. Not undoable but it will be bumpy in spots.

I wish I would have checked the forum yesterday morning. Beautiful scenery and such but the canoeing Sucked. We did not make it through one section of “rapids” without running aground and having to walk the boat through. We probably got stuck 10 times. In the areas that were deep there was very little current. At least now I have a water level to gauge by for future trips

Yesterday the water gauge near McKenzie AL said about 3.2 ft like mentioned above. I would not go again without at least another foot of water. We did the section between 31 and 84. Both spots have boat ramps with plenty of parking. Ramps are rather steep but concrete

Yeah, anything under 3.5’ for me and 31 to 84 is a no-go. I did Bull slough to bottle creek today.

You are killing me with your finds. We did not find much. A couple sea shells and my cousin found what appears to be a fossilized piece of tree. I may need to do a trip with you one day.

We paddled Blackwater River yesterday from Wilderness Landing to Bryant Bridge. Beautiful trip all around. Water gauge near Baker was at 2.17ft and falling when we launched about noon.
