My two boys and I just recently each got fishing Kayaks after I sold my boat. We'd definitely be up for a GCGF paddle get together. Also, if anyone has good info on paddling trails in the area like a good website for them post them here for all to share. I'll try and Google and see what I can find but if you know of some good sites already please post them up! We've only had our Kayaks a couple of months but have really been enjoying them, I took my Old Town Topwater 106 down the Blackwater on Sunday, it sure is more stable than the ones they rent!

FYI - Blackwater River last take out is at Deatin Bridge the river spreads out into the swamp and you have to portage before you get to the bay
Check out Google Earth before going below Deatin Bridge as it’s a long portage carrying everything

Yep, they are busy in there. If alabama resident and have license you can shoot from stationary boat at game on bank. I have the governor as well, but use the judge in case it gets dropped over the side $240 vs $700.....45 colt will kill em, short range.
I had a place up on Chillatchee Creek west of Selma years ago and we would float the creek in a canoe during doe season and slip right up on em. It was short range shooting and we usually took the 12 ga and put a load of buckshot upside their noggin.

I need to try that next year. Good use for the shockwave maybe.

I've casually looked for sharks teeth in Fl since 06. Look around every trip to the beach, after big storms and also after beach reclamation progects: nothing. Finally found one a few years ago on the order counter at Burger King. Funny but true.

Many years ago, I found lots of shark teeth in the creeks around Gainesville, FL, and bird point arrowheads in Newnan's Lake around the west side, especially near palm point.

We were up there last Thursday on Pigeon Creek south of 84.

Bought a cheapo Lifetime tandem just to see if kayaking is for us.
So far seems to be just fine on moving water like many of the streams and rivers we have around here.

Picked up about 150 shark teeth and sting ray teeth in just a little while.

Glad to see this thread alive and well.

Nice! I paddled up pigeon creek from the Sepulga once, about a half mile up to the waterfall. Did you launch at 84? Where did you take out?!

We launched from 84 and turned around at the waterfall and headed back. Just upstream from from the waterfall a little ways is this old bridge (Cohassett).

    Wish I’d taken more pictures.
Had my Iphone well protected and its a pain to pull and re-tuck when underway.

You could launch from 84 and pull kayaks at Cohassett bridge I guess....

Would need a long rope to pull yak up the bank.

Just upstream from Cohassett bridge is ruins from what looks like a concrete dam made for some sort of ancient venture?

Thats cool. I've got an underwater metal detector I might bring along. Also a good chance their might be some cool bottles down stream.

Any issues with blockages? How far down did you go? I’m looking at launching at 84 on pigeon creek and going all the way to the Bull Slough bridge on the Sepulga Saturday.

Our tandem sits pretty low in the water and were lucky I guess to be able to bump along the limestone shallows here and there without having to get out and drag to deeper water.
    Blockage??
    Define blockage.

There were a couple of fun shoots to line up and zoom down.

    02906275-CD35-42F0-B358-8708490562A4.jpeg

We turned around at the waterfall (Where Pigeon creek makes a sharp turn to the south FROM the west) and paddled/dragged the kayak back over the shallows. The falls I’m referring to is less than a 1/8 th mile downstream from the old bridge.

There may be more falls like the one you turned around at???

Only had a 10’ rope to pull Kayak back up through the shoots.
Longer rope would have been great.

Please post pictures here of your trip!

    This you?

IH424, I see yawwl selected Murder Creek for Saturdays trip.

Looked again at Pidgeon Creek and realize I only rode a small section.
After the “Falls” we turned around at,,,its a LONG way till Pidgeon dumps into Sepulga.

Betting your choice is correct given there’s been little rainfall up that way significant enough to raise level from what we experienced many days ago.
