I'm sure Skanksta would have insurance for something like this, right?
Had insurance lol. They can't afford the new policy.
They will have to lift the toll on the garcon point bridge.
It will cost me 30 dollars a day if I work in gulf breeze. I cannot afford that, so I'll be forced to take 87, which also eats up time for my employees. Still wasting money.

Hindsight is 20/20 they say, but Why would they remove the old bridge Before the new bridge was 100% completed? Seems like someone should have thought out of the box for possible mishaps.
Who's got the car ferry boat?
New side of bridge is going in the exact spot of the old one. It had to be taken down due to the lay out.

Had one float off the beach thursday by pattis seafood in that northwest breeze while we were at the base standing by to bring the cutters in. Skiffs had to go chase it down

In the future they should take the barges to the shallows somewhere and literally breech the hulls. Certainly never leave then in a place where they can hit the bridges.

Dang! If I was home I could have hooked it to my hummer and pulled it home. It would save time for me and the wife!

From email that I received from the FDOT.
The FDOT is still assessing the bridge for damage. There are three barges that need to be removed.
    .......................
Currently, the final total number of the spans or piers that will ultimately need to be replaced is unknown, but FDOT is aware the contractor has some existing inventory that will reduce how many new parts will need to be used for the repairs. In addition, FDOT has directed the contractor to begin constructing more replacement beams and piers at its offsite yard.

Demolition of the damaged areas of the bridge will begin over the next few days, and just as FDOT did with the inspection and assessment efforts, the contractor is bringing in additional resources to expedite demolition. FDOT expects the demolition progress to increase once the barges are removed and the additional resources arrive.

Further preliminary inspection findings include (please see attached images for reference):
    • The number of spans requiring full replacement remains at five and FDOT has identified an additional two that will require partial replacement.
    • FDOT will have to replace a number of beams and is still determining the specific number needing replacement.

The bridge closure is still anticipated to be for an extended period of time. A more specific estimate and impacts to the current construction schedule will be known once the full assessment and repair plan are determined. Once the situation is fully assessed, and damages are fully understood, appropriate parties will be held responsible for the repairs

Looks like with a little work they could set up the bridge for bicyclists and pedestrians. The rest of the bridge could be a fishing bridge until they get the repairs in.
