Absolutely ridiculous. So ridicule him, not encourage it
I don't like the price either, but I overpaid for a few things in my few years of buying gun things. Lessons learned. The last election taught me a lot- I moved from Wisconsin to Florida (as Conservative as I could find) and started saving up ammo when the price was cheep. Ran into issues when my ex left, but by next election, I should be in a much better position. :)

If that is what people are willing to pay, Im not going to get on them about it. We all experience scarcity. :)

What I find funny is everyone saying oh its market price. No its gougers price
Academy hasn't gone up in price , they've gone down in availability and if you see my prior comment therein lies the problem. The yayhos who go around and flip the ammo for a profit which if I recall isnt that illegal besides being a crappy person in general. And hate to remind folks, but I've stocked up fairly well beyond what a lot of folks are able to , a lot of folks aren't able to sustain the level of stockpile plus being able to actually go to the range and train.

well, If you don’t help folks out by sharing what you stock pile you are part of the problem. Do the right thing and put half of what you have up for sale at the same price you paid for it.

Question - - -> if I bought gold, silver,or a '67 Corvette way back when,do you expect me to sell it to you for the same price that I paid for it ?? How about a HK91 that I bought in 1980 for $680.00 ?? If I don't sell it to you for that same $680.00 am I a "gouger" or a "crappy person in general" ??
See my point ?? ---- SAWMAN

You're of course welcome to your opinion, and some probably agree, but I for one don't think of folks as "yayhos" or "a crappy person in general" for offering the ammo for sale, regardless of the price. No one is forcing another person to buy it, and if they do, that's their business. If you are stocked up and feel the haves should be helping the have nots, I'm sure some folks will appreciate your offer to sell some of your stash at Academy prices. JMO and YMMV.

Technically its not gouging. In 1980 the USD $ was worth way more. If you factor inflation and devaluation. 5k is about right. In 87 I was banging out a whopping 3.65 an hour and thought I was king $hit.

2 things, only my opinion. Am item's value is whatever the buyer is willing to pay, determined by need and supply. I also find no value in shaming someone as unprepared who is trying to find what they can now. I'm very thankful to have prepared, but don't feel superior, just thankful. No doubt an area will arise which I haven't foreseen, and I'll "overpay" for something. In that case I'll find the value of something I do have in trade for something I don't. OP, I hope you find what you're looking for. None of us will last too long lone wolfing it if things get truly bad. Just my opinion.

    Every....

    Phucking....

    Time.....

Ammo/ Guns too expensive..... why are people paying these prices?... why aren't prices as low as they were 6 months, 12 months, 5 years ago?

How hard is it to understand supply and demand? If you don't like the price, move on. There are clearly other people that are willing to pay it. It's great how guys that complained about academy being high priced 6 months ago are holding them up as the example to follow now... when it benefits them. Academy doesn't need to make a lot of money on ammo. They've got lots of other stuff they can overcharge you for. A gun shop is a different story. You want to praise a gun shop that hasn't raised pieces. Great. How long do you think they can do that and stay open?

Individuals selling ammo at high prices they got for "normal" prices? Again....Don't buy it.

This isn't the first time this has happened. We've had several years since the 2016 election to get ready for this. Your loss.

You want people to sell you guns/ammo at old prices when replacement cost has gone up, or can't be replaced at all? If you really think you NEED these items, you'll pay the price.

I understand some folks live paycheck to paycheck and things are even tighter with WuFlu impacts. It can be hard to squeeze a box of cartridges/shells from the budget. Many here have done the same during their lives. I never considered "stocking ammo", I conserved what I had, didn't take shots that were questionable and cursed myself for misses. I grew up and out of those extremely lean times. Stocked up gradually, reloaded and paid the savings into reloading/new stock. Couple boxes a week, a Case or two on sale, bulk buy special ammo by Lot# that had extra magic inside. Shoot the old stock the new, store it right! It took time, effort and funds from other things. Now retired X2, I still was buying for three primary calibers (.22LR is fat). I'm not selling a single round. I don't have a crystal ball to give me insight for the next few month nor the next few years. I agree with most Commentors its not going to be good on several Levels.

All the brand new "woke" gun owners who didn't give a shit about guns or gun Rights and may well have been against them until they felt the social decay or the WuFlu economic impact could create a major survival threat: Tough Shit! Remember the fable with the hard working ant and the lazy grasshopper: same thing here. They didn't get involved until THEY preceived threats.

This isn't a money thing, I've taken dozens of new folks to the range and shot a half dozen calibers over several hours on my Dime, glad to do it. Shot with most of them again when they had bought their first gun and ammo too. Just planting seeds and watching them grow. That time has ended as resources are scarce and too expensive. I've got two teachers that are pending but they couldn't find the time even though school just opened this week!

Folks that want to sell in demand guns and ammo cheap or for max profit, do your thing. It doesn't impact me other then a private snicker here and there. I do hope it really is excess or you can replace it (maybe cheaper): if available in the future.

Me, I'm right back where I started: I conserve what I have and shoot what I need to. Before the Training Ninja's start flapping: I'll take care of my proficiency, thank you. Fish for business elsewhere, Lol.

Quite frankly, "give me half of what you have at the same price you paid for it ten years ago" sounds like a Socialist Democrat to me. Must be a Bernie Sanders lover. I guess after a hurricane you will want half of my food, water, and gasoline. LOL. Oh yea, my '69 air conditioned Corvette Convertible was six thousand dollars new. I guess you want me to sell that to you for six grand also, otherwise I'm a gouger. LOL
