Synopsis: it's basically idpa with a rifle from which we transition after shooting, at least one reload and a bit more shooting. The rifle is then set to safe and put aside left hanging by a sling and we proceed to switch to pistol to finish the stage, usually with a reload or two. They do call for proprietary targets, but we don't bother with that.
In addition to the usual idpa gear, you'll need a center fire rifle, 3 magazines, a sling and 150 rounds (to be safe), a chamber flag would also be good IMO. All general safety rules apply.

When you transition from one firearm to another, a box is provided for you to drop your firearm within the stage.I don't know what a dump box is, but I don't like the sound of it.

No need. We run slings. When you transition from one firearm to another, a box is provided for you to drop your firearm within the stage.
In some 3 gun matchs. The long gun, after being made safe is "dumped" into a box. Or the gun is staged in this way to safely grab in a transition. Didn't know if this would be useful in a 2 gun application maybe 12 square x 24 deep on an angle padded bottom?I don't know what a dump box is, but I don't like the sound of it.
