Wait, a pistol just having a sight on it gets points towards being a rifle? So any of my handguns with RDS on them automatically has two points? Lmao. This system is a train wreck. For a regulatory agency that is supposed to be made up of the professional authorities on firearms, they sure express infinite ignorance in the form of this list. Or intentional nefariousness, which we all know is the more likely option.

From what I have heard, the actual agents in the field are knowledgeable professionals - Its the pencil pushers in the office that are political and dream up the regulatory changes and interpretations.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but how I understand from the language on form 4999, ATF reserves the right to reclassify any firearm with "stabilizing brace" to an SBR which automatically makes you a felon. Not only it's unlawful but it's completely open ended.
Also, this doesn't apply to any braced pistol over 26 inches which is 11.5" or over with a milspec buffer tube?

It's an absolute setup. They said these were legal for years so everyone went and bought one. Now they say they're NFA guns so give me $200. It's not just give them $200 and your good either. Now you're on a list and you're required to keep your NFA rifle in a separate safe that no one else has access to and you consent to ATF showing up when they please to inspect the rifle. Total bullshit.

There will be an amnesty period and will be will be no NFA fee to "register" your braced pistol.

At that point, throw the brace in the trash and put an actual stock on it!
And invite the AFT into your house, at any point in time they feel like it! Yeah no... you first. I've owned a federally registered SBR before. And a silencer. I was young and naive. I know the hoops that it entails and I wouldn't wish that on any freedom loving patriot ever

I don't own any NFA items, never have. Has anyone here actually received a 'visit' from ATF to 'inspect' them? I'm wondering if this actually happens and if so, how frequently.

You do you guy. I've got nfa items already. It doesn't give the atf free reign, it only gives them permission to see the item in question. If you keep it up and up, stay outta trouble with authorities and luve a straight life, no troubles. The atf can't process paperwork in less than 7mo right now, how they gonna process some 40 million stamps in any kind of expedited manner? Ain't gonna happen... the atf doesn't make laws and millions won't comply.

For 200 dollars you can put a stock on it. In my opinion this amnesty period for braced pistols will not allow you to have free reign with a stock because you haven't paid the fee.
That's why their new form for braced pistols requires a picture of it assembled. Hard proof. Again. My opinion. It's too big of an ordeal for them to take on. Cause a lot of stink, but I just don't see how they can enforce it. Would take years to build an agency and years to go through all the tiles. Like you mentioned later, they can't process what they have now.

I don't buy anything on that 26" rule but there is a weight rule which little jack posted about pages back. It's impossible to comply
Looking at their interpretation it sounds like they're saying it has to be under 26 and the 4lbs to be considered a pistol before you even get to the rest of it. If it's over 26 and/or 4lbs then it's a SBR because it's too long/heavy for them consider it a pistol.

ATF gets to make and interpret the rules.

Exactly the window of time when the most patriots will become felons, while waiting months (if not years) to become legal.

This is why I stuck to 9mm AR pistols with no gas systems and only 4-in barrels. Anything else is too heavy. I don't have any of those anymore. They are all traded off and gone. I don't own a single "black rifle". They can all kiss my grits. There are better weapon systems in bigger calibers that are wood and steel and not "evil" or black and much more highly capable
