Trying to decide on a scope for my .308 build. Savage 110 police 18"bull barrel sitting in an adjustable B&C competition stock. A lot of budget friendly options in the 4-14ish magnification range. With the cooler weather, it's time to do some long days at the range doing load development for it

Put out a 7x14 trailer load of sweet potatoes on 3 plots, Beat. Hauled stuff around, rode 4 wheeler with bride. Great day outdoors, pics of deer on game cams! Plot is growing nicely. Headed out tomm to refill feeders and put out more gamecams.

Started loading handguns in anticipation of the election riots. Then I thought "nah, not gonna happen here." and I went back to playing games with my alpha. Then a few minutes later the doubt crept back in "well, maybe an extra 45 wont hurt..."

I am gearing up to do Cowboy Action Shooting so I went to the range today with my ruger vaqueros and Uberti winchester 73 both in 45 colt. First time shooting either of them and was very happy with the results. Now to load more ammo! It goes slow on a single stage but I am picking up a used dillon 650 over thanksgiving.

Took a last minute trip to ERGC to plink. Took the target all the way to the back of range 5. 158gr lrnfp over bullseye. Damned sights are bigger than the target at that range but I got all but three in the black. Now I want to find different sights. Anyone know if they make silhouette sights for a blackhawk?

Took off early to go vote, then came home and reorganized my portable bench. Figured I'll prep a bunch of brass while watching the election results as they come in tonight. If I get sick of it, I'll turn the TV of and actually load some. Took the second press off because it was too crowded. Made the bench so it could be leaned back and rolled like a dolly and for through the doors in the house into the garage. Gotta wait for another kid to move out before I can set up a reloading room in the house. Got one kid off to college but the wife won't let me convert his room.

Working on a budget minded Mossberg 500 stock replacement, and found this Mossberg stock that was painted green for less lethal training take off stock on Flebay for $19.95 with free shipping.

I immediately took off the recoil pad and the sling stud, and slathered it with citrus based cleaning fluid. It was barely used, and the paint should strip right off.

Cast 152 more bullets for the Danish rolling block. Just 283 more and I'll be at my casting goal of 1000 for that rifle this casting season. Then on to other caliber casting. Got my .311 sizing die and top punch ordered to get my free STAR lubesizer back in business. Cleaned and lubed the sizer and it runs so smooth now. With no bullet in it, one can now lower and raise the handle with one finger...before it needed one hand. I do need to clean more old lube from it. Now I need to get bolts to fasten it to the loading bench.

It is sprayed on. The Goo Gone failed to make an impression on it so tomorrow I will spray it with Easy Off oven cleaner, and I bet that gets it done.

Painting is always an option. I have some ceramic based spray paint I have used in the past with good results, and it will work well for a truck grade Mossy shotty if Easy Off fails..

Got a black plastic stock that I would give you but it’s in Baker and I don’t know when I’m going to Pensacola again.

I used citrus blast recently and it worked pretty good. Messy but worked. AR lower.

Loaded a bunch of Barnes 95gr TTSX for my 6.8's.
Pretty hot load using Accurate 5744. Will check it out at the range then decide which gun(s) to use it in.
Hopefully my 18" Bison will like it. It should give me about 2860fps. --- SAWMAN

Finished stripping the Mossy stock. Took three coats of stripper, and then used Frog Lube to eliminate the slight green haze on the stock due to pebble texture. Recoil pad loosely attached and sling stud installed for picture. Now to install on Mossy tomorrow with new front sight and a few other parts to return it to full stock hunting guise.

Glad that after all these years someone can finally get some use outta it.
This was given to me by a friend and member of the NAS North Island ( San Diego) Naval Marksmanship Team.
He later went on,after retirement,to work as a civilian at the Small Arms Training Unit in Crane,Ind. He shot at Camp Perry for many years after that. ---- SAWMAN
If you had given it to me i could have been patching inner tubes with it, or trying to..
Always good to see an oldie get back in the game!
Good find from a good man!

Watched my shares of Ruger stock (RGR) fall 10.72% today as the Blue Wave of a Democratic clean sweep failed to materialize. Though I'm not complaining, I am very pleased that the Republicans are apparently going to keep their majority in the Senate. And social unrest and calls to defund the police will again raise the stock price eventually.
