500 yards isn’t exactly an unreasonable shot with a 5.56. And my iron sights can be set for 700 yards. Now, does that mean I’m putting rounds through someone’s 1200$ glass at 750? No. But that’s not necessary.
area targets, small unit tactics are BASIC training for at least one service in the military.
I’m not exactly sure what some people’s experience were in Bosnia, or how apt they are at running a multiple acre controlled burn up too a residence while camped out in their hide in a attempt to raid a stockpile. But I have encountered snipers before, in an ao where the average range of engagement was 400 yards over fairly open desert terrain. The big take away was “2 is 1, 1 is none”. That is too say, he didn’t have eyes in the back of his head, and a lone sniper was not a good match against a group of individuals with a elementary grasp of the concepts of cover, concealment, fire, maneuver and team work.
Now. I’ll be the first to admit that no one in my little war story went to BUDS, no one was a primary marksmen Instructor. No single person had more than 8 years experience in their perspective field. so take it with a grain of salt, and for what it is: a story on the internet about a scenario the vast majority of us will never encounter in real life. But for gods sake, don’t claim an ar is a 300 yard weapon when you also claim to have qualified at 5, Know it’s effective at 7 and can cover an area at 1k.

Most folks that think a 5.56 is worthless at 600 yards have never been shot with one at 600 yards. I don't care how many advanced classes a man has had, there is nothing that will teach folks ,like been there done that. Why do you think politicians are so fearful of veterans? Yep, that's right been there done that and not afraid to do it again if necessary. The politicians fear is not unfounded .

Your "vision" of reality will be short lived. I don't think I have ever seen so many extremely poor tactical assumptions in a single Post. Everybody understands it but you.
A. You think everybody else only has .5.56 rifles.
B. You think you can "reach out" and nobody else can. Do you "own the night" too?
C. 750 and up? You think "your training and current level of proficiency" is superior to everyone elses. Aren't you the same guy with the can't hit a paper plate 10 out of 10 offhand with a .308 @ 200?
D. You ignore urban structure in your 750+ field of fire Plan and think folks at that point and time are going to be standing out like tent pegs.
E. You think your potential opponents (who you want to eliminate IOT get their supplies) have not experienced the harsh realities of combat including what I'll limit to the terms of "horror & ugliness". The entire Theater of Wars is always like a big buffet but individuals are limited to what's on their plate. I don't judge or compare what a person had on their plate, I just acknowledge and respect they had one.

get a large piece of pvc pipe and 2 caps glue one cap on , put your stuff in wrapped in clean dry cloth add a good amount of rice for desiccant glue second cap on bury on end to provide smaller signature throw some change etc. on top and cover
