I really gotta say I am sad. nearly 14 hours into this thread and I would have thought some of the more thoughtful, progressive and peace-loving members on this forum would have piped in by now. I was looking to hear about how:
-they should have known better in Dallas
    -those bigots had it coming
-these were fair-minded people defending their faith
    -the police overreacted
-drawings of a polygamist pedophile matter

    :grouphug: hold me :drama:

    I'll bite Latch,

    This is 2 different scenarios.

These 2 guys were an active threat to people.

The guy in MD was NOT.

    That is all....

muslims in TX rioters and druggies in MD, I am not sure I see much difference. Political correctness is ruining America!

Garland's Reputation is known statewide, conditioning and rapid response is key. From the 90's to today there have been changes for the worse due to politicians but they are still known for their reputation. Officers are given 1 hour of their paid workday for physical training everyday.

Really Frank.......wow you are so smart and all knowing!! Please tell me how a guy who died in police custody is comparable to 2 asshats that shot up a place.

Of course I want facts and links to back it up, not just hearsay.

There really is no comparison between the two incidents. The point of this thread was the events of Texas and not a rehash of Baltimore.

Btw I am changing my mind on whether the traffic cop used a revolver. If he had been using a revolver then he would have only need one shot total to kill both bad guys. It took him two shots so it must have been one of those wildly inaccurate jamamatics.

pot calling the kettle black is crazy and people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones frank, that doesn't have anything to do with this post, but you should get the underlying message....

    that is all......

Just because this type of attack failed does not mean they'll have a bomb next time. And no one is doing anything to deserve to get bombed anyway. Every time someone kills one of these animals, I consider it a good day. Whether they're drawing Mohammed cartoons or not.
Deserve has nothing to do with it. This type of event is a deliberate provocation. The direct approach with gunmen failed. You have to consider that at the next event the bad guys will adapt and try different tactics more men or a bomb grenades or a rpg.

It always has to be considered that anything can happen. But you can't deny that people like that will use anything for provocation. Like a marathon in Boston. And those guys skipped the guns and STARTED with bombs. So you can keep focusing on what the event-goers did wrong, and I'll focus on what the shooters did wrong.

Traffic cop (60 years old, 38 years on the force) used a Glock of some kind. Fired one shot at each shooter, killed both.

Right man at the right place. A lot if people would have been killed if he had not stopped those guys.

Well the event was within the Constitution and freedom of speech...If some one was attacked w guns every time we did not agree with what they say or did and every disagreement was solve w gunfire, would this still be America? They had the right to hold the event no matter if you agree or not but the bad guys did not have the right to shoot them...

That is amazing, especially considering that (I heard) they were wearing body armor and carrying AK-47s.

Did you not claim event was a "deliberate provocation"? Or was that someone else? Saying that is absolutely placing a focus on the people at the event, even if you want to pretend it wasn't. I'll let you argue semantics and tone with yourself. Again, deliberate provocation or not, I choose to focus on the shooters instead.

I did say it was a deliberate provocation. The organizers knew this. That is why the organizers payed $10,000 for security. That is why the police were out in force providing protection. Everyone knew, that this event was a poke in the eye. It had no other purpose but to thumb its nose at Muslims around the world. The First Amendment does provide some protection and as long as the event was not deemed the same as "fighting words" or "profanity" which I don't think it was, then they have a right to hold this contest. If the crazy sect that protested at dead soldier's funerals could get away with that garbage, then this event is also legal.

My concern is being prepared for the next attack. I truly believe that others will hold similar contests and that there will be repercussions.
