My grandfather passed earlier this year and I was left a few of his guns. One in particular was an old Winchester Model 94 30-30 in beautiful shape. It is serial # 226xxxx which by my little bit of research puts the manufacture date of this gun in either 1956 or 1957. I'd say this gun is in 98% condition, with very minor scuffs on the stock and fore end with no pitting on the barrel or receiver. I'd really like to take a deer with this gun in the future, but honestly I think it is just too pretty to take out in the woods to get banged up. Can anyone tell me a little more about this gun? The approx value? Ive read the Pre-64 models are more sought after, so I was just wondering. I will never sell this gun but it is always nice to know. It came with a couple old boxes of ammo which I thought was very cool as well. The pics of this gun just do not do it any justice. It is beautiful.

Nice gun. Wood and metal. Next time you post an image of a gem like this, please crop the images, or find something more suitable to lay the gun on for image taking. Value is anywhere from $550 - $900+ depending on how many folks are looking for one the day a Gunbroker auction ends. Original finishes, original box, stuff like that makes a difference.

I was kind of turned off by the Chicago Bears pencil holder also.

What a great gun to inherit from your grandfather. A real piece of history. Pass it down to your son or grandson.
I've got a 1961 vintage Win 94 that I bought back in the 80s for $70. Not in the shape that yours is in though.

    I agree with Roaster's valuation.

I traded into a 1972 model 94. Thought I should have a "Western" style rifle. I'm a pistol guy. Compared to yours mine looks well used. No bluing on the action at all. Got a bit worried by the length of those 30.30 rounds. Popped off about 15 rounds and decided my shoulder is no longer up to hunting standard. Learned later that John Wayne used earlier models in pistol calibers like .32. So mine is my largest safe queen. Treasure that rifle but let it do what it was made to do, every now and then at least. Super fine gun.
The pictures are fine., and I am a photographer. The background is a small peek in the window of who you are. I don't own a Glock and am not looking for one but my wife wants a G23. I love her.

That's a nice 94,and very well taken care of. Most older 94s ive seen where in no where near that good of condition. Those older boxes of ammo are pretty cool too!
