PORTLAND, Maine — Diners at the Grace restaurant sit under a vaulted ceiling and stained-glass windows in a former Methodist church built in the 1850s. Its cool, spiritual chic comes with a catch: No one who owns an assault rifle — or even supports the right to own one — is welcome.
Grace’s owner, Anne Verrill, posted that dis-invitation on Facebook shortly after a June 12 shooting rampage at an Orlando nightclub killed 49 people. Verrill was outraged at yet another mass shooting, this time the worst one on US soil by a single assailant, and she had had enough.

WISH THIS PLACE WAS IN PENSACOLA AREA....THEIR BUSINESS WOULD FALL DRAMATICALLY

And the politicians still blame the criminal liability on the firearms manufacture. Never saw a lawsuit against a vehicle manufacture when a perfectly running car is deliberately crashed into a crowd of people! We know more people are killed/injured by vehicle drivers then firearms owners.

Be it a movie theater chain or a manufacture, when they don't collect allowed damages and legal fees: it sends the wrong message and encourages more frivolous lawsuits. Don't the people/group suing always say "Its not about the money, its about accountability."

Our tort sytem is not based on accountability, it is based on neglegance which causes injury or damage. The major problem with lawyers and judges today is the overwhelming belief that when a person is injured, someone owes them money, even when in fact there is no one responsible or neglegant. "You might be entitled to compensation." Has become the start and end all guiding phrase of the ambulance chasers.

I just learned that Don Kates, the father of the modern Second Amendment revival, died Tuesday. Don wrote “Handgun Prohibition and the Original Meaning of the Second Amendment,” 82 Mich. L. Rev. 204 (1983), the first modern article in a major law review arguing for the individual-rights view of the Second Amendment, and since then he wrote or co-wrote over 15 more law review articles, as well as writing, co-writing or editing four books. His work has been heavily cited both by courts and by scholars — and he did this while a lawyer in private practice (with occasional time as a think-tank researcher), rather than a law professor.

At least one "law professor" amounted to something. Send that to the the dumb ass at 1600 PA Avenue, he is so ignorant he acctually thinks he has accomplished something with his life, besides breading with a Wookie.

    all the precious little snowflakes in ohio...;

Progressives used a brutal knife attack at Ohio State University (OSU) on Monday as an excuse to demand more gun control, even after authorities declared that they had no evidence the attacker even used a gun during his rampage.
The attacker reportedly struck pedestrians with his vehicle and proceeded to stab several others, harming at least nine individuals, one of whom is in critical condition. Despite OSU’s initial tweets stating there was an active shooter on campus, authorities later said there was no evidence.

read some of the comments in the link....are they even on the same planet?

It's the students and followers of the left that are dumb. The movers and shakers of the progressive agenda in fact are pretty sharp. They know a systematic, relentless and decades long assault on perception is the way to win. In short, long term brainwashing.

It defies logic how these people can be so damn stupid. Calling for gun control after a knife attack, you can't get any dumber.

Today is yet another was a sad day in our country because of a senseless shooting at an Ohio State University.

and these people are in charge?

The shooting at Ohio State University Nov 28th was the most sensible act of gun use I read for that date. I applaud the "shooters" decisive and deadly actions. Trump should Award the "Shooter" the Presidential Medal of Freedom, bamalama sure as hell won't.

Wait till you read about the State Depts new oversight responsibility for "Ministry of Truth" as some call it. The responsibilities and funding was buried in the Def Appropriations Act signed as everyone took off for te Holidays!

    https://pjmedia.com/trending/2016/12/28/obama-admin-yanks-2a-rights-from-ssi-recipients/?ref=yfp

Last week, the Obama administration put the finishing touches on a new policy that would deprive recipients of disability insurance and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) of their Second Amendment rights. The administration will now characterize those citizens as "mental defectives," thereby having their ability to own a firearm subject to the federal Gun Control Act.

With a hopefully Pro-2A Supreme Court Judge being appointed by Trump this will be ruled unconstitutional

The Republican-controlled House on Thursday took its first steps toward strengthening gun ownership under President Donald Trump, moving to scrap a requirement for background checks for disabled Social Security recipients mentally incapable of managing their own affairs.
The regulation, issued in the final months of President Barack Obama's term, is one of a handful congressional Republicans are rolling back, knowing they habe a new ally in the White House. The Senate is poised to scuttle an Obama rule preventing coal mining debris from being dumped into nearby streams.
"In my home state of Kentucky and others across the nation, the Stream Buffer Rule will cause major damage to communities and threaten coal jobs," said Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.
The House passed the gun resolution on Wednesday and Senate approval on Thursday will send the measure to Trump for his signature.
Obama's background check rule required the Social Security Administration to forward to the Justice Department the names of certain disabled beneficiaries for a database of individuals ineligible to purchase a firearm. The rule affects an estimated 75,000 beneficiaries who require a representative to manage their benefits because of a disabling mental disorder.
Republican lawmakers criticized the regulation for reinforcing a negative stereotype that people with a mental disorder are dangerous.
"There are people who need help and seek help, but that is not a criteria for taking away one's constitutional right" to own a gun, said Rep. Pete Sessions, R-Texas.
