Any greasy, dirty, gunk covered, homeless military surplus weapon. They have a story to tell, if I could just hear them it would be better.
[/QUOTEI remember plundering through the "real" military surplus stores along the riverfront in Jacksonville in the mid '60's. Barrels of SMLE Mk IIIs. The price was way less than $50 to the best of my knowledge. Take one home, find what screw is missing, and contact Sarco. I appreciate any old military firearm...my oldest are a Spencer carbine, and a .44 double action Starr. I have 3 Nazi Lugers, a P-38, and a CZ 27, all Nazi marked. I hold no value or honor in Hitlers' doctrines and the Nazi belief, but out of all my military weapons, I wish I knew the history, and where these were carried...what did they see?

I have a DOT 44 K98k Mauser, made at the Waffenwerke Brünn I factory in occupied Czechoslovakia. My Dutch grandfather ended up there as slave labour. So I have to wonder if he touched part of the rifle I own. It's a mix-master having ended up in the Balkan's where it was used and abused for years after the war. Would love to find a numbers matching one at some point.

I've got a few MilSurps mixed in with my Commercial weapons. I missed the heyday of MilSurps, Hell didn't even know there was such a thing. So I didn't get my first one until Jan 2011 at age 44, a beat up, greasy, grimy Turkish Mauser (Commonly referred to as the Model 1938 Mauser), this started the addiction/disease or whatever you call it. I bought it at the insistence/urging of my wife, I bet she regrets that now......

You have the memory of an elephant to spout off a list like that!

I don't own one yet, but a nice Mosin Nagant has been on my radar/list for years. Years ago, goldmines pawn had an absolutely perfect unissued (Finnish?) 91/44. I couldn't stop thinking about it. Also couldn't justify the $600. Nicest one I've ever seen. Definitely collector grade. IIRC had hex receiver. Can't remember the year...sigh.

My heart skips when I see carbines - always has. I would love another Ruger 44 mag carbine so I don't have to take my late Grandfather's out much. I love my lever guns, too. Blued Revolvers and side-by-side shotguns. Its like looking down a 4-lane highway! Also, a Ruger No. 1 one of these days... but unsure as to which caliber.

    might as well mention another weakness I don't own yet WW2 1911a1, or even a WW1 1911.
But prefer the refinements of the newer model (a1?) I need to dust off my Colt firearms reference books

Both of my Finned M91s I stole.

    1894/1927 Izhevsk/Tikkakoski/Mosin-Nagant Model 1891. Paid $220.00 OTD in Jan 2012. It's one of 10,000 re-barreled, in 1926, 27, and 28 with a Tikkakoski barrel and one of 3,000 to get the Stepped-barrel.

    1915-1917/1924-1927 Remington/Böhler Stahl/Mosin-Nagant Model 1891/24. I paid $180.00 OTD in Dec 2016.

See above post on Finned M91s. There are still plenty of guns on my wish list, the hunt is always fun......
