Mags: Load em if you got em! Alt minimum would be a standard combat load of seven for a long gun and 3 or 4 for a pistol. They need to be on a vest or in a grab n go bag to easily move with the firearm(s). I have a bandoleir sling and nine 2 3/4 OO Buck "in" the Benelli M3. IMHO, YMMV.

Bought more parts today. 5.56 upper, faxxon 16 inch pencil, right to bear upper, strike ambi charging handle, toolcraft bolt, aero handguard. New Frontier lower CF. Strike brake, comp. J-? Might try it on the hunting LH side charger 223 wylde.
Going to put a slick side on the faxxon and put together a lightweight rifle and use the CF new frontier lower on it. Been loading mags and assembling rifles from the parts bin with the wife. Had fun!

Assembled a lightweight rifle. 4.6 lbs. Faxxon pencil barrel. 1.2 lbs, can you believe that?? Holy crap. Using the bushmaster lower. Going to assemble the new frontier CF lower and see how much it knocks off. Hopefully I can reach the under 4lbs mark without resorting to any of the really exotic parts.

So I go to test the melted lead from the mystery block. I'd kept is separated just in case, and am glad I did.

1st test: Cast a few test 30 cal bullets. They came out nice looking, but I noticed I had to have the temp about 100 degrees hotter than normal. They weighed heavier than #2, about like clip on wheel weights.

2nd test: Add 1lb linotype to 2lb mystery. Some "frothing" or foam on the surface of the melted lead. Bullets now came out same weight as #2, but much harder to cast without a wrinkle. Kept casting, but gave up as too many had a wrinkle at the base. Tried different temps with no improvement. Suspect there is zinc in there.

3rd test: The bullets I cast for the .310 Martini Cadet are normally the weight of clip on wheel weights, so let's try making some of them with the mystery lead with nothing added. Success. Nice fill; nice weight. I'll simply use the mystery lead straight for making cadet bullets.

The cadet bullet has a smaller heel like a .22 rimfire bullet that fits inside the case. After the round is loaded, some Lee liquid alox is smeared on the outside surface that contacts the bore.

One of my grand daughters has been staying in isolation with us for a few days as a break from her brother and sisters also out of school in isolation away from the world not leaving their property while the virus does its thing. They only live a few miles away. I know, let's do a lesson in pistol shooting, teaching her trigger control, mag and gun loading, etc. While she owns and shoots a .22 rifle, she'd never fired a pistol. She jumped at the chance. She and I loved it. .22 pistol suppressed. She'd never fired anything but a single shot .22 before...liked the autoloading pistol.

Got in my last ammo ordered from Midway. Ordered the 17th, shipped two days ago, and arrived today. Also for shipping notification on the new fore end I ordered for my 300 BO pistol.

Picked up a su16.(C?) Always wanted to try one, found a good deal and I bought it. Some kind of aftermarket break on it. Will do some reading up on it.
It can fire from the folded position. The forward stock folds out to make a bi-pod. Very lightweight. Can use any AR mag but will only fold over the 20. Only downside (if it is one) is it's pretty much done, can't mod or really change anything, not like an ar. Peep sight. Gas system looks ak-ish. Side charger which I like. It's a shoot and see I guess.

Oh, you can mod it and destroy what it was designed to be in an attempt to make it more AR'ish. The one I bought had been so treated, and it was not economical to put it back stock. As is, it is an excellent light weight backpack or truck gun! Enjoy, and let me know if you want that Kel Tec screw/accessory pack next time over this way!

Finally made the jump from 9mm to 45 auto! Been wanting a 45 for several years now so I finally did it. Also purchased a chest holster as this will be the firearm I wear while duck hunting in the marshes! Had some scary moments this past year standing belly deep in marsh mud with gators!

Carried a Kimber Ultra Carry CDP II for several years. Loved the 3" bbl and stippled front strap. Changed the grips to VZ and bought some Wilson Combat 47D guts for the Kimber mags. Added extended base plates(bumpers) also.
Would reccomend you add some length to the pictured mags for quicker and positive mag seating using one hand and the "mag on body" technique.
In fact . . . I still have some mag bumpers that add about 1/4" to the mags OAL. You can have them if you need/want them. IIRC,several colors w/ needed screws.

Thanks for the warm welcome, I would love to try out the mag bumpers! Already at the range once I had to do a double take to fully seat the magazine all the way in. Excellent tip I appreciate the heads up. Going to look into the Wilson Combat 47D guts also. I'm all about taking a Toyota and turning it into a Lexus!

Recently picked up/traded a pmag and $20 for 3 Kimber kimpro magazines for my ultra carry.

I could be coerced into selling/trading it if anyone's interested.
