Brownells introduced various models of "retro" (semi auto) M16's such as M16A1 and XM16E1. Maybe it'll mean that repro parts to do my Mattel M16A1 will be more available down the road.

saw you mentioned your mattel somewhere else on this forum, but said an 80%? Is it a full auto lower and if so is it able to be processed into a full auto lower?

It is not full auto. It's an 80% lower marked Mattel, Property of U.S. Govt., M16A1, Mattel's Firearms Division, etc, etc. It will be finished into a semi auto lower by me, as I do not have a Type 7, SOT 2, FFL to make full auto firearms. It used to be a rumor during the Vietnam War that Mattel made some M16's. It fooled me enough that about 1976 I went through all 400 of my unit's M16's looking for a Mattel. I hope to find a combination of original and repro M16A1 parts and build a replica of a firearm that only existed as a fantasy, a Mattel M16A1.

A replica of something that never existed...would that still be a replica? Hmmm...makes one wonder, doesn't it?

Here you can see pics of it: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/736774459

    Remember this . . . . "If it's Mattel,it's swell".
The rumor that I remember hearing was that the plastic hardware on the guns was made by Mattel, including the buttstocks. Wonder if that had a shread of truth to it ?? --- SAWMAN

Since my wife likes to go to Vegas on occasion and I like all things firearm related, I was thinking that going to Vegas during SHOT show week would be a neat idea...though when looking into it, I found that the show is not open to the public at all...very disappointing. I've been to a number of trade shows (non gun related) and usually the first couple of days is open to industry people only then another day or two for the public...people showing their wares would sell some of the stuff they had at the show too so they didn't have to transport it. Oh well, looking forward to the neat stuff this year.

I always liked the m240 the most, to me it made more sense than the m249. However in semi auto I feel they're about dead even.
The fact fn is producing a 7.62 belt fed semi auto must mean they're selling enough of the "civilian" m249 to make it viable. Am I missing something, are transferable trigger packs common and affordable or something?

It's also a bummer it's industry only admittance.
