I don't even like to admit this but it appears a gun fell out of my truck at Jays yesterday. It is a Springfield arrmory Hellcat 9mm. The gun is registered to me in the state of florida. IIts the older model without safety, I am offering a $100 reward to have it returned. If anybody knows anyone who found it I would greatly appreciate it being returned. thank you Mike Shulman 850-314-6555
I'm sure you've called Phil by now...

I really thought I lost a gun once.

I found it three days later in my gun cleaning box…. I had started to clean it and I got distracted, put it in the box meaning to come back and finish cleaning it.

I felt like an idiot as I had gone around and asked several places if someone found my gun.

    I hope you find it.

I returned from the range (ERML) one day and later received a phone call asking if I was missing a gun. my response was "God, I hope not." Fortunately it wasn't mine.

There's that word 'register' again
I mean when you have it transfer per FFL and background check per the FBI or ATF. At some point would it not "register" somewhere in the database???? Unless you think that when you transfer the ownership from store to private it doesn't go anywhere at all and it is just for shows. If that's the case I got some extended car warranty I can offer ya ;););););)

Report the firearm LOST to the local LE Agency ASAP.

It will be entered into NCIC/FCIC in a non-purge status.

Never know where it might show up.

Even if someone finds it and is unaware of the legal requirement to turn it into LE as "Found Property" (if not they are committing Grand Theft of a Firearm), they might sell/trade it off at a gun or pawn shop resulting in it's recovery.

This topic reminds me of a question, or better yet an idea I had also. I see on TV where folks track items with these new "airtags." I'm on android tho so I'm not familiar with Apples stuff. Anyways, I've wondered how long their batteries last? Then I wondered if it wouldn't be a bad idea to maybe super glue some into gun stocks etc for in case they're lost or stolen. Heck even having one inside a pistols case, holster or box sounds like a good idea. Especially if you have truck guns nowdays with all the thefts. It may be a great way to help prevent things like this in the future.
