All this techy stuff, it's getting more n more like gaming. ;)
I assume that would make things a lot easier for the guys logging in scores.

Yeah, I think someone made some mistakes scoring one of my squad members at the last match.

I don't want to start a new thread for this sunday and steal anyone's thunder but does anyone know what the side match is? I have my little XDS coming in for a backup match if there is one.

For the shotgun matches is everything pretty close(home defense 18.5 barrel) or more for a 26/28 inch barrel?

The ones I've seen and shot, the furthest shot was 20-25 yards. The straight shotgun side match did have a shotshell to slug transition.

So what do I do, just show up and shoot some targets? Do I have to be a member of some organization?

You got it! $15 to shoot, you don't have to be an IDPA member for your first match. Bring gun, holster with good retention, at least 2 mags (3 is better), around 150 rounds of ammo (probably only shoot 100 or less). Mag pouches are nice, but not necessarily required because you can just stick extra mags in your pocket. For your first match, focus on being SAFE! Don't worry about your time or score, just be safe and everyone will have a good time.

Here's an example of a normal match:

Post up if you've got any other questions.

Please don't be a stranger. We may look like a motley and rather gnarly crew, but we're good people.

Well, what do you want to do? Score REALLY great close groups with a SHOTGUN (?) with a longer barrel than that which you would use in your home defense scenario, or see how well you can shoot with your 18" home defense gun? Bring your 18 incher because it will swing faster than your 26 and it may not drag the ground when you finish the shotgun portion of the stage and "drop it" on your sling when you transition to your pistol and finish the stage because you ran out of shotgun ammo. BLAMMO !!

I really don't believe in a shotgun as a defensive tool, I just want to play with all the other kids on the playground.
