Same area I told you about last year just on the West side of the creek. I’m sure he’s all over in there though. What’s weird is I’ve only seen them alone and not the huge flock I was seeing last year. Big coyotes in the area too
Thanks. I tried it a few times last season. Got on them on opposite side on opening weekend. Couple guys from Alabama where over on that side already n killed 1.

Speaking of turkeys, they’ve been gobbling here for several days, the thunder this afternoon got them riled up. I’ve seen 15 Toms in one group, 18 Toms and about half dozen Jakes in another group this deer season. I quit turkey hunting about 15 years ago. We got some plots that will be covered up with turkeys and the deer will not come in when they’re making a fuss and scratching around. Used to get after them with a single barrel 10 gauge, on average the Toms I used to bag here weighed 23 lbs. They are very prolific here, the most I ever counted in a field next to my house here one time was 72, the wife was with me that afternoon and she had the same head count, peanuts had just been dug and they were fattening up on them.

They can be a nuisance, we’ve had to replant food plots some years as they’ll scratch up all the seed before we can get rain fall for the seed to germinate

Can’t wait for the rut to kick off, this bruiser wasn’t stinking or no swollen neck, just stopped at a corn pile, my friend Mike in my club popped him this morning, he killed the other big one I posted just a few days ago, don’t know it’s weight yet, I helped drag it to the road, he felt heavy , lol

Haha, I got up at 4:20, about 4:30 I text him I’m going back to bed, stayed up to watch the GA/OS game last night (Bama fan I am but Go Dawgs) and I was too groggy to go hunting. He text me at 6:20 that he’d just shot a big rack deer, get on my clothes and find the deer for him and help drag it to the road, get in one of my stands by 7:30 on the power line and sitting here til noon and walk back to the house for lunch. Luckily the lease joins my property and I don’t have to drive long way to hunt. Had this lease 26 years now, lot of management to get it where it is today.

We only killed 2 does this year, yesterday was last day to get one on our club, Jan 1 through Feb 10 is bucks only. Our deer population is probably out of hand and next few years will need to thin the does out. We don’t have any meat hunters here, everybody looking for antlers. We enjoy seeing big groups of does feeding around the plots. I know too many is detrimental to good management and we’ll address that in coming years, would like children to harvest some of them, may end up inviting folks with kids next season to take several out.

I have a biology report done by two alabama guys( science-based). I downloaded it on the net. Deerbook is the name of it. Very good info. Covers food, antler growth, culling etc.

Another buddy just dropped this one on my lease few minutes ago, I passed on it before Christmas, could not size him up at a long distance, nonetheless, he’s proud of it

The property I hunt is a 9acre strip close to hwy 164 that basically is not wooded and the deer just arent coming out before dark. Looks like I'm getting skunked this year. Last evening was a bust.

I'm late in life for deer hunting. This is a before and after of my first buck: an 8 point taken last week. I've taken several does but never a buck. Got a pic of this buck in the food plot 3 mines before I was going to walk out to the stand. I figured he would be gone when he saw me coming with my flashlight not to appear again to the following night. Just barely able to see I could make out movement. I had to watch him for about 15 minutes before there was enough light to take my shot. I figured with my luck as it got more light he would retreat back into the woods and I would never get a shot off.

Didn’t want to show this young man’s face cause I don’t know him, my buddy had pics of this buck on his land, never could see him. Killed this morning on neighbors property 300 yards from my friends land, nice wide rack
