I went with a Diablosport tuner and then had this guy build a custom tune for 87 octane.

Std cab short bed 99-06 chevy or gmc 1500 can make a fast hotrod. The engine is the same architecture as the vettes, just smaller cubes, but given one cheap enough you can swap in the better motor......or larger.
The c5 z06 is the car to have. My favorite.
Only a couple of items a real pain to change. 405hp from the factory. Can make 5-550 easily and still get 28mpg and drive it everyday

Had a pilot in Germany in the 7th SOS, that owned a Ferrari looked nice. But after he took me for a ride in it on the Autobahn it lost its appeal. It wasn't the speed, it was the fact I felt every damn imperfection in the road......My spine felt like I was riding on a pogo stick.

Not to derail but I spent many a high school Froday night up there. That's was when you could race down Chemstrand because no one was on that road after 8-9 o'clock

Nice street cars, hot rods etc. are great. I love 'vettes too and I'm thinking of looking into one down the road but I just don't like driving a fast car slow. Thats why my "toy's" are something that I drive flat out every time I get in. Yes, even in the rain as the first picture shows! Red car was my first race car, now my son's, grey one in bottom picture is my newer car making a pass down the front straight at Sebring

That's really cool, what kind of drivetrain do those have?

They're called Formula Vee (FV). They have the engine and gearbox from a VW Beetle. Engine is blueprinted, balanced, lightened and set up to breath much better than stock. Gearbox is set up for very low drag. Set up as a mid engine car with engine in front of gearbox, opposite of the Beetle. Entire car with driver weighs just over 1,000 pounds so adequate power and incredible handling and braking. Can pull close to 2g's in corners!

Heres a short video of the first lap of a race at Sebring several years ago. Watch for the spinning cars in front of me at corner 2:
