    Colt Commander 1911 fs/ft
    West Pensacola.
    $900
I took this in on a trade. I'm just not much of a 1911 or .45 guy.
Polished nickel with engraving. Has an lightweight lower. Newer night sights. And 1 mag.
I'm mainly interested in trades but will sell for the right offer. $900 trade value.
I work a lot so if I'm a little slow answering pms please be patient. Thanks!

That looks like a gun that was offered to me as a trade on a beretta a while back. Think the slide was frame was a Springfield. Just remember it was mismatched stuff.
Like I said, looks like one that was offered to me, may very well be a different one

Yeah it's definitely not a museum piece but a solid shooter and great carry gun.

So is it a Colt Commander or a piece mill 45?
I know very little about it. As I said I took it on trade. What you see is what it is. I'm definitely not a 1911 guy. For all I know the only thing original is the slide? I did fire it and it shoots great and operates flawlessly. I listed it as a Colt Commander because that's what it says on it. You're welcome to come by and take a look if you are knowledgeable on them.

So I poked around on the internet looking at Commander lightweight guns. I took a screenshot of an early lightweight model and it is stamped on the lower with "LW."
Here's that screenshot and then mine. I don't know if that helps or identifies anything, but it's all I've found so far.....

I just ran the serial number on Colts website and it shows it as a 1955 Commander.
Maybe I've got more than I think?

Think I'm just going to put it in the safe until I can do a little more research on it for now. I don't want to misrepresent it in any way.

    I don’t see how it’s misrepresented,
Colt says they made that frame in 1955 and the slide says colt and has the prancing pony.
looks to me like it’s a colt 1911 commander.

no offense, but i don’t think it’s a “collectible” colt... but it’s not priced like a collectible colt either.
I think you should leave it up for sale and see what happens. I also wish you good luck with it.

Interesting as the 'bobtail' is a relatively new design which it seems to have.

I'd check out one of the 1911 specific forums and I bet they'd set you straight in no time flat.

Most likely the front strap texturing, sights, engraving, and bobtail is not production. I think anyone can recognize that. I don’t know thy his thread has been hijacked. Maybe an admin can close it down.
