Anyone have a 300 Savage rifle?

I was wondering if anyone had a 300 savage rifle in these parts. I ran up on some ammo for one and have no use for it. It is listed in ammo sale section, but may be interested in just shooting it or tradeing it if someone had a 300 sitting around. I remember these being a sought after rifle, up north to use on the big deer, bear, and elk and such, as a brush gun. I never see any down here and have to wonder if it is just overkill for the area or why it never became popular? I personally have never owned or shot one.
