Thanks for the link. I just got back from Kenny's Gun Room and he never mentioned anything about it.

I wonder when FFL holders will be notified?

Never mind - I read the ATF "open letter" in the link.

I wonder if every county in AL does a NICS check prior to issuing a permit?

I got the first info from a gun shop. They received a letter from BATF.

The permit has to be issued after the established date. If someone went thru the process years ago, the background check wouldn't be worth much as a recent vetting tool. I just checked mine and it only gives an expiration date. Guess I'll have to learn to count backwards three years.

Mine has the issue date on the back, but it's a Baldwin County CCW.

I can't swear to it but I'm pretty sure Baldwin Co. runs a check every time it's renewed. I know that in Bay Minette the girl fiddles with the computer and waits a couple of minutes before she prints the new one. I assume she is running a new check. I'm also pretty sure that 5 years is the longest one can renew for without getting a new photo.

I'm pretty sure Alabama didn't do more than a one year renewal before Aug 1, 2013. Probably why they threw in that date.
