I've have a 2013 Taurus PT 111 Millennium G2 that I bought new in 2013 that has never had a malfunction. It eats whatever I feed it with no issues. Haven't had a FTF or FTE either.

So either I got a unicorn or I'm just lucky as hell....

I'm sure there are many happy Taurus owners, and most manufacturers have had problems at one time or another, but call me a snob if you want, because I would never own a Taurus of any description. It's just my personal choice.

I have never liked the Taurus pistols.
Taurus revo's are a different story. Especially the higher power models. Great value for the money. The red grips and expansion chamber adds to the shooting pleasure. Even with the 60K psi loads in 454Casull. --- SAWMAN

I had a gun store owner tell me this story. Sold a customer a Taurus revolver. The customer brings it back in pieces and shows pics of injury to himself and friend standing next to him. Seems the shooter had a squib - heard a low pop instead of a loud one. Being a new shooter he pulled the trigger again and the second round caused the gun to come apart and sent pieces at both men. 100% the shooters fault. He asked the gun store owner if Taurus would warranty It. He said I doubt it - but I’ll try. Gun store owner told Taurus exactly what happened. Taurus replaced the revolver no questions asked.

If I remember correctly this was on the G1s, and they sent you a G2 as a replacement.

Not a snob, everyone is different. If we weren't life would be boring, besides everyone is entitled to their opinions and beliefs.

Now about those opinions and beliefs?
I've got round counts on Taurus revolvers that exceed S&W L-Frame revolvers. (S&W machinery started Taurus)
I've even got round counts on Taurus 1911's that far exceed Colt Products prior to first failure.
But I'd recommend the pt99 or pt101 to anyone interested in the Beretta 92 or M9 Military Pistol. It's just made better, regardless of price point.

Buy a revolver they said. It’ll be reliable, they said.
Well, I’ll give Taurus a chance. They can’t possibly duck up a wheel gun. Can they? Goes to fire and after the first round, the side plate falls off and the action locks up.
At least they replace it, but it’s no huge loss to them since it cost 5 Brazilian pesos to make...

Isn’t it peculiar that the bigger the piece of shit, the more pressing is the intrinsic, almost religious need to justify it?

People can buy what they want, I couldn’t care less, but from me, it’s a solid NO. I’ll always choose proven over cheap when it comes to guns, toilet paper and socks. But that’s just me.

Swore off Taurus after a horrible experience with a revolver when young and dumb.

20 years later grabbed a used PT-92 on this forum after researching the model and couldn’t be happier with it. Granted it’s likely the only Taurus I’ll ever own. But it’s a solid piece.

I always wondered what the point was of the see-through Taurus 85 they came out with a few years back.. Maybe for an insider view of the gun malfunctioning?

So the Taurus pistol controled the dumbass's mind:
Erased all memory that it was a loaded pistol.
That a cartridge was in the chamber.
That he attempted to fire the cartridge.
That the cartridge failed to fire after the trigger was pulled.
That he didn't need to wait 30 to 60 seconds with the muzzle safely pointed down range.
AND the GUN told him to put his palm in front of and over the muzzle of a "hot gun" and apply force to the slide.

So blame Taurus! No, User failure.

The cartridge failed to fire, Click and nothing happened? If its a slow burn, than the primer was struck hard enough for ignition to start. For simplicity, say it was a slow burn: That's a problem with the cartridge.

So blame Taurus. No, thats an ammo issue.

Hard primer or light strike. No prior history of this included in the indormation. However, if this were the case and the slide was slightly "pushed" back: would the hammer have enough force to strike a partially dimpled primer and ignite the cartridge. Maybe, I don't know the 945 Model.

So blame Taurus! By by definition, neither a hard primer or light strike can cause cartridge igntion.

Double Primer Strike. A primer that has been previously struck and dimpled but insufficiently to crush the hammer/anvil will often fire with a second Strike if the primer is viable.
    A. The 945 has a automatic firing pin Block Safety and a Hammer Drop Safety. Either one would have prevented a second Strike if the Slide was manipulated to the rear far enough for engagement of the Drop Safety and/or the Trigger was not depressed and "reset" keeping the Block Safety from engaging.
    B. My best guess is that it's at least feasable to pull the slide slightly rearward yet not engage the Drop Safety; then relese the Slide and have the hammer strike a firing pin already forward of the Block Safety. The design probably work 100% with a good round but a compromised "pre struck" primer is no longer Fresh ammo: it's defective.
IDK if other pistol hammer fired pistols can have their safties circumvented in that manner? The Taurus Manual has a WARNING paragraph: NEVER RELY COMPLETLY ON A SAFETY MECHANISM.

So blame Taurus! The user was attempting some bastadized form of a "Press Check" or limp attempt to extract the cartridge and fumbled the slide: thereby allowing a Second Hammer strike.

IMH non expert Opinion: Anyway you boil this down its an ammo issue that was not cleared properly and the injury was soley the fault of the user firearm handling.

Hate Taurus if that's your thing but this is some dumbass who couldn't keep his hand away from the muzzle and we're suppose to think he kept his finger off the trigger?

I'll gladly listen to anyone's opposing technical opinion on this event/pistol.

Disclaimer: Not a fan boy, just a gun guy.

2 out of 3 Taurus I've owned have been messed up, all three revolvers. The only one not messed up was a South American surplus 38 Special. A copy of a S&W Victory, with rotten polyurethaned grips and no blueing. But I got it for a hundred bucks, took a chance and it worked flawlessly. Seems like it's all the newer Taurus products that are messed up. The surplus one certainly pre-dated mass production and CNC machines and cost cutting measures

Apparently one of my co workers was shooting his .45 acp pistol yesterday. He was clearing a round that didnt go off. When he touched the slide, the round went off. Im still waiting to hear what kind of pistol. Hes a big guy, and his hand got too close to the wrong end
Dang It! I know that had to hurt!

That’s the STUPIDEST thing I’ve ever seen!!

WOW, a lot of Googlers there, huh.... Wonder how many "cook-offs and Hang-fire" hits were generated? lol

I referenced "cook-off" as to what I call it, the powder is slowly cooking off in the case after the firing pin hit the primer. But yes, as others have stated, the proper wording is a "Hang-fire".

And if you do not know what that is, here's a good video of what can happen with improper handling of a "Hang-fire", a round that did not instantly fire once the firing pin hit the primer.

Even tho this video has been said to had been faked, it still gets the point across.

We often see opinions about firearms being junk from people who never own them: they either read reviews, honor others opinions and might have handled one.

We often see opinions about firearms being junk from people that owned them but all to often it never includes their effort to resolve the issue through customer service if under warranty or through a Gun Smith if no warranty. My experience with Taurus was very slow due to the allen screw not being in stock in the States. My experience wit Sig was extremely fast and the BCG was repaired and received back in sven days.

If we move to the larger issue of recalls, sometimes refered to as "free upgrades"; we plainly see the that no major manufacture has a fault free record. When the faulty issue is the result of design failure, that design could have been incorperated/scaled in several different models. Remington recalled over 7.5 million Model 700 & Model Seven variants for the trigger/safety issue: that far exceeds the Taurus "mass" pistol recall.

Recalls don't just happen to firearms people dislike, they are common on the guns we love too: the former is used as a club to beat up the Brand while the latter is selectively discarded from memory.

One man's trash is another man's treasure. Lol

So they went out and purchased a .40 Glock like most PD's nowadays. But somehow they got a larger slice of the $h!T sandwich. Not all Glock's are trouble free just like Wildrider666 stepped up on the stump. JMHO.

    1. Buying a .40 is wrong
    2. Would rather have a bad Glock than a bad anything else - unless it’s been on fire you can replace any part fairly cheap.
