Look out on the Colt forum. Avoid Florida Gun Trader. Virtually all of the Pythons listed are scams. 90% of them anyway.
You might want to post what you are looking for - barrel length, finish, etc.

Just my humble opinion but I never understood this latest fascination with Pythons. I bought one about 6 years ago for $500. Went and shot it, didn't care for it so I sold it for $750.
I think the prices are being driven up by speculators but I can't imagine them going much higher.
To me, the sleepers like the Trooper, which are still reasonably priced, are a better value.

I'm no expert but I know a little about them. Is it the original or MKIII ? .357 or .22? What is the barrel length? What kind of shape is it in ? Finish? Box and papers?
All Colts have gone up drastically the last few years.

It's a .357, MKIII, 6", blued. It is in excellent condition. It has never been holstered and has less than 500 rounds through it. I believe that it is circa mid-1975. No box or papers.

Again, I'm not an expert, I just kind of watch what they go for since I own a MKIII in .22.
As you describe, from what I've seen , you are probably looking in the neighborhood of $700, maybe $800 if somebody is dying to own it.
Some that are new or like new in the box have brought crazy prices ($1500 or so) because collectors love 'em like that.
But one thing to think about, Colts seem to be going up every year. It wasn't long ago that they were bringing $300 - $400.
