This rifle belonged to my maternal grandfather. He passed away in 1947 from tuberculosis. After his death my grandmother sold the gun to a family friend. Years later in the 1970’s the family friend gave the gun to my mother, he knew it was a family heirloom, and that it belonged in our family. It has never shot straight, the barrel is pitted. I would like it to be shootable. I’ve heard of re-boring and rifling an old gun. Maybe to .357 in this case, not sure. Anyone know anything about this, and who may be able to do it? Maybe I should just leave it as is?
I had a Cowboy shooter make me a pretty big offer on the gun once, it is not for sale.
Mechanically the action works perfectly.
