While we are guessing what things could be, someone figure this one out for me.

[General Snafu]

Cleaning out a garage of someone who recently died, we discovered what we believe is a tool. This person had quite an assortment of tools. One of those tools has us puzzled, wondering exactly what it may have been and what it could have been used for. If anyone has an idea what this tool was for, please let me know.

In the first image, the stamping says "HECKMAN BLDG PROD. CO."
The backside says, "CHICAGO" with an "E" under it.
It's quite possible, I'm wrong about the first letter on the name of the company. It could be another letter as, it's not as clear as the other letters. You will need to expand #4 and #5 to see the rest of the picture.

well a google says HECKMAN BLDG PROD. CO makes masonry products, but I saw nothing similar to that. Was ther evidence of other masonry stuff around ?

Thanks for your reply. both of the first two replies appear to be correct. I also posted this to craigslist and had a correct reply in my inbox this morning. In retrospect, we used to use a similar tool back in the mid 60's to the mid 80's. It was referred to as a strapping or banding tool. We used it to band 3" cam lock hose fitting and the associated hose together. We also used it to band items to pallets for shipping. Apparently, it could also be used to band forms for concrete pours together. I don't know why my feeble mind never made the association. Guess, I'm just getting too damned old.
