Pig hunt was pretty good considering....used the Barnes 50gr TSX FB over some H380. They proved to be right at .5MOA ...then took the scope off, mounted and sighted in the Thermal. Got 3 in the first sounder at just over 250yds. I see I am outta practice hitting moving targets at that distance....I clearly saw that I stopped the gun on both rounds sent. My other buddy didn't have an issue with the 6.5PRC on the runners....he got a stander and runner...then the fog set in making it hard to range distance....then the rain set in... making it hard to get out of the van or see from the rooftop thermal. I do know a few spots now that could use a depredation permit for deer though

Picked up a classic S&W 640-1 Lew Horton performance center factory ported model for a good price and went for it. Used to have one of these 20 years ago and always regretted selling it. Pistol is in nice shape and I am a happy camper.

Went to Element Range today. Took my 1903A3. Got hits at 300 and 400 yds. Iron sights. Probably just luck because I can barely see the steel targets. They need to paint them a florescent color then I know I can hit them. Man that .30-06 kicks like a mule. Don’t remember it kicking so much.
I have one made 1944 ,it looks like it has seen every battle since that date too .i have yet to fire it and yes those battle sights are for 17 year olds

Took my new to me S&W Model 24-3 44 special to the neighbor’s range for testing and sighting in. Brought the “Skeeter Skelton” 44 special load that’s worked fine in other 44 specials. 7.5 gr unique with 250 gr swc. Goes about 925-950 fps depending the bbl length. I shot at 13 yd.

First two groups had all shots touching, but to the left. Should’ve taken a pic, but simply stapled another target on top and started adjusting sights and shooting. The load does have some kick and I felt some fatigue coming with my groups typically of 4 shots close and 1 out. It wasn’t a surprise to me. Not 44 mag kick, but noticeable.

No leading and none was expected. Did get some of the fired bullets and aluminum gas checks. No surprise on the gas check condition…rifling marks uniform and no signs of skidding in regards to once the gas check got into the rifling. The bullets did surprise me in that they expanded some. I’d expected them to be near to prior to being shot. They are not “hard cast”, but 20/1. Bet they’d do well on animals.

VERY happy with the results. Cylinder throats are between .430 and .431. I size my cast 44 bullets to .431-.4315. I found softer 20/1 alloy grouped smaller than harder Lyman #2.
