Edit to add: some language not suitable for safe-spaces and thin-skinned weaklings. Fortunately, not everyone is punished to work with those people, so it may actually be "safe for work".

It's a newscast. Definitely NOT as bad as the "trigger-warning 21+" click bait screen would have you believe.

^^^^^^^ Still just scratching the surface. When Trump wins, they will have four more years go dig it all out. If he loose, it will all be burried deeper and worse case dems will give it a hillary "Server/email" type bypass of justice.

The verse in question merely identifies the far reaching threat of battle/war to all lives. If the PC initiative is to simply remove the word from use, that's fine with me as long as it's an total - across the board prohibition and no one can use the word. It's either offensive or it's not. Unlike the "N" word that is used extensively in common communication, movies, TV, comedy, music by some and derogatory/racist in old literature and if used by others. If the word is so inflammatory and degrading why is it used by and towards those who it offends? I, like some; find the word motherf×××er offensive even in jest. On the face of it, the "N" word carries a stronger common feeling of disrespect. When a third party hears the "N" word used, are they suppose to change their inflammatory interpetation of it? I don't use the "N" word but find it as another exmple of inequality by those who do with casual acceptance. No offense intended. YMMV.

The National Anthem of the United States of America,
    "The Star Spangled Banner" lyrics:

Oh, say, can you see? By the dawn's early light
    What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming;
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming.
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air.
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there:
Oh, say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave?
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In fully glory reflected now shines in the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh, long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution!
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Oh, thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust":
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

If you are seriously offended by the lyrics of our Nation's Anthem, that's your business.

If you seriously believe that you are going to CHANGE our Nation's Anthem BECAUSE you are offended, then you are an idiot.

The Anthem stays the same. I will forever sing it that way.

Heck, NOW, I might just start belting out that Third Verse INSTEAD, as loud as possible, despite the fact that whomever is singing is actually singing the most common version of the first verse only.

If by some insanity, the Anthem is changed, then I will disrespect the ever loving shit out of whatever snowflake rainbow hippie crap supposedly takes its place.
