Ok - this is a gun topic post - hope it is in the right area - All right - here we go:

I have heard to much bellyaching recently about guys who don't shoot the same kind of guns as you do; why does anyone need an AR-15, you're drawing to much attention, etc. Basically what I am saying is that some folks prefer to shoot only primitive weapons, some like black powder rifles, some like military surplus, etc. Here is the bottom line: We are all shooters and 2nd Amendment supporters. Guys who like Western Style Guns, will look at AR-15 Shooters and (sometimes) say..."I don't care if they seize his guns - they ain't coming after mine!" Well - the only reason they "ain't coming after yours" is because you're not on the Anti-Gun Nuts menu yet. The likes of SS Obengruppenfurher Schumer, Diane Feinstein , et al. consider so called "Assault Weapons" to only be the appetizer. Folks - once they get the appetizer - they're coming for more of the main course. That includes them all - six shooters, SASS, Flintlocks, revolvers, etc, etc. It is (1) the right thing to do to support anyone who uses any kind of lawful firearm in a legal manner - they are exercising their 2nd Amendment Rights & I believe you have a moral imperative to support their exercise of that right - just as you do for yourself- and (2) - you owe to yourself to try new and different things. Never fired a Flintlock or a Percussion Cap Musket/Rifle - be willing to give it a try - you might just like it! Same goes for folks who like so called "Primitive Firearms" - give an AR-15 or AK-47 clone a try, or perhaps an old Enfield SMLE or Springfield M1903. Last thing we need is fratricide and friendly fire casualties ! - as 2nd Amendment supporters - we are all on the same side regardless of the implement we use!

Amen twice. I had a discussion with a gentleman last week that wanted to complain about all of this gun grabbing going on. He informed me that he was a long time hunter, on and on, and then in the next breath he pretty much stated that he would throw AR owners under the bus to keep his rights. I just stood there dumbfounded and eventually left.

Sean, been seeing and enjoying your post; but brother you cannot walk away from such ignorance without trying to get to raise understanding to the level needed to protect HIS rights, and everyone's rights.

Please do not take this as criticism of you, I have actually been struck dumb by similar stupidity. Rather, take it as a plea to not walk away without trying to make them see how the rights of one group are tied to all similar enthusiast and assuredly. For if one firearm right is lost, all others will fall as long as we let them!

Be strong, and patient with those of lesser understanding on the topic. Make THEM stronger to make us all stronger.

Hi Ray, I understand, agree and see your point. I've been known to hold court quite a few times and in fact am personally responsible for turning more than a couple of anti-gun or unengaged folks into avid shooters. In this particular situation the gentleman in question would not stop talking and I didn't have the time to discuss with him at length.

Cool news, and I am glad to hear that. I have play an active and hopefully significant role in bringing at least four co-workers to the hobby, and one was a Cali-Demo-Krat by birth; but too intelligent to stay in that mold. HaHaHaHaHa
