Since the US started pushing around sovereign nations all across the Middle East, opioid production doubled in Afghanistan, as the cash crop poppy fields were physically being guarded by US Marines. Concerned parents all across America, nevermind the whole world, watched in horror as their young ones dropped dead from overdoses at record rates, never equating the US occupation of Afghanistan with the drug overdoses. But people in the know, people who had been there and seen it in Afghanistan, people who had multiple loved ones here in the States drop dead, we knew. The Taliban knows too, and they said "Hey y'all... watch this... we're going to save more lives internationally than both Bush's, Clinton, Obama, Trump and Brandon combined... every year... by nixing the US drug cartel's opium production in our back yard"
