    For a hunting scope the Zeiss Conquest V4 or the Swaro Z3 line are bright & clear . 300yd max I see no need for more than 9 - 10 X on the top end . Illuminated I like the Trijicon Ten Mile line , just the center is lit can really help on black bull & gray gloomy days . Depends on how much of a dialer you are . If so something more tactical might be in order .

    Yep... lots of good choices out there now days.

    100-300 on a Win-Mag seems like a crime lol. Being an A-Bolt, I assume a "sporter" profile barrel...?

    Was leaning more twds a hunting scope . Since you want mainly for range use you might want other features like uncapped turrets , zero-stop , higher magnification . Position shooting ? Prone ? Bench ? ie how hard can you hold ? Go with a 30mm tube , if longer ranges the 34mm offers more range of adjustment . 4-16x50 or 6-24x50 more for range , as the higher lower end reduces field of view . Depends on how you hunt , if from a blind / stand then target attributes aren't the hinderance . Walking around is a different story .

    bench rested ,i have to qualify at 100 yards before the range lets me on the 300 yard steel . i like the idea of 6-24 x50 but i don't know if there is something as too much power ,the 6 x power seems ok as min. and it would be dial adjustable to 24 for 300 yard

    Another excellent line is the S&B Klassic line both the 4-16X50 & the 3-12X42 are first class & worth a hard look . Be hard pressed to find better glass for under $ 2K IMHO .

    My suggestion would be to go to your range when you know there will be some rifle shooters there , watch , and politely ask if you can look through their scopes and note what powers their scopes have. Also note if the scopes are FFP or SFP and the reticle in them.
    Depending on the size of the 300 yd.,your rest setup and if you reload or not ? the higher powers may or may not be useful , but they are adj. down to the lower powers.

    So once qualified , you'll just be shooting steel @ 300 ? If so don't sound like a bunch of dial twistin' . I'd zero @ 300 , hold off / adjust as needed . How big a target ? Gotta be bigger than the X-ring on a F class .

    Sounds like you can't there from here , kinda like I can't undrestand why any factory would build anything bigger that a 223 with an 18" Bbl.
    I would suggest you look at scopes on online stores like ;
    opticplantet or Eurooptic both will show available scopes, $$$ , and their recitals and FFP or SFP.

    If you are mainly shooting 300. What about a fixed power scope like a 10x42. Let me look tonight and see what I have
