What is it with this guy?

Trump's personal attorney faces troubles in Chicago, where several taxis he owns have been grounded

President Donald Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen, already facing heavy scrutiny for paying a porn star to keep quiet about an alleged extramarital fling with Trump, is also running into trouble for business dealings in Chicago.

Cohen operates 22 taxicabs in Chicago, more than half of which are immobilized due to violations, according to the city’s Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection. Since 2009, Cohen has been the owner of 22 taxi medallions, the metal plate displayed on a taxi’s hood that gives it license to ferry passengers.

Cohen has 10 cabs that are in compliance with city code, five working under Rush Hour Cab Corp. and another five under Love Bug Cab, city records show. The remaining 12 cabs are with Tailgater Cab, Gridlock Cab and Fender Cab, and all of them have been suspended since Jan. 1, when their insurance policies lapsed, a department spokeswoman said.

The city says a medallion in violation status requires that the issue be addressed before the cab is allowed to operate again. Taxicabs in violation could incur citations, including fines of up to $2,000 a day and medallion revocation.

“Failure to carry insurance is an egregious violation of the city ordinance and puts the riders and public in jeopardy,” a city spokeswoman said in an email to the Tribune.

According to the city, these cab companies have also been issued citations for failure to have a licensed manager, failure to carry required worker’s compensation insurance and expired license plates.

New York City has just hit Cohen with $285,000 in tax debt related to his taxi business. I wonder if this is why the Trump campaign spend almost 300k in legal fees for Cohen at the end of 2017, fighting this tax debt.

On a lighter note, before the tax reform, Cohen could have deducted some or all of the 285k in state taxes he had to pay from his Federal taxes. Not anymore. In an effort to punish those citizen in Blue states, the new Tax code severely limits federal tax deductions for payments of state taxes.

I knew he was $60,000 behind on NY taxes, but not this much.

Second half is really funny. But obviously he wasn't planning on paying it anyways.

Cohen responds to message sent by National Enquirer cover

A National Enquirer cover story targeting Michael Cohen could be a strong sign President Donald Trump is upset with his personal lawyer and turning against the man known for years as his "fixer," a source close to Trump said.

According to the source, Enquirer publisher David Pecker, who is a longtime friend of Trump's, would not have allowed the publication of the story -- which featured a headline including the phrase "Trump's Fixer's Secrets & Lies" -- without the President's blessing.

When asked whether he thought a message was being sent by the story's publication, Cohen told CNN: "What do you think."

    My rant.
Why wouldn't Hillary Clinton deserve the same scrutiny? Yes, I know this is about Trump. But no one wants to delve into the pay to play antics of Hillarys side deals and the bogus Foundation.
This is arm-chair lawyering when no one has seen or heard what, if anything Mueller actually has, is in effect the same argument you guys throw up to the other side. There has been no proof Trump did anything wrong or outside the law at all.
Its all speculation at this point. I think we need to wait for the Special Counsel's report, if he ever gets through with his decidedly political journey through republicans lives. I am not aware of any spin off investigations involving Democrats where actual crimes may have been committed. Maybe I need to watch CNN and MSNBC to get my facts, oh wait, they don't report or investigate negative information on Democrats. My bad.
Yep, they got the General after they ruined him. Unless you're a billionaire you can't fight the US Government. He didn't do as much as Hammering iPhone Hillary Bleach Bit minions private server in the bathroom with classified information Clinton. They didn't
t even raid her Lawyers office! They didn't pull her out of the shower and search her home, they didn't search her computers because she destroyed the evidence after being told to hand them over. But I firmly believe Trump is the guilty party?
Ill be better only after we see equal justice under the LAW and it ain't gonna happen.
So, prosecute, I mean persecute Trump for something you don't know about, but hope he did.
Having said that, what was the actual crime that triggered the investigation in the first place. If no crime, why was the investigation started without cause? Just the facts, and please, without the partisan spin.
On another front, how many Dems could survive this kind of meddling into their lives? Could you?
This seems to me to be a "I don't like him and he isn't my President" investigation that is an attempt to drown his administration and completely stall his Presidency. Obama, Hillary, Holder, Airport Bill, the IRS, Rice, Emmanuel, and the rest couldn't survive a mean spirited inquiry into their lives by hack republicans with special council authority.
Its all a Washington game/blood sport. Everybody in Washington owns a closet.

Friend, I somehow don't believe you'd accept that special counsel report if it were written by Jesus Christ himself. You'd think it is some deep state, left wing, America hating scheme to take down your messiah and give our country to Muslim and Mexicans. Oh yeah, you forgot your Benghazi reference!

Now, with Giuliani admitting to: Trump sent money to an attorney > Attorney sent money to Cohen > Cohen used a cutout company in California to > Pay Daniels means, California may now have jurisdiction on some of the charges.

Cohen's now got issues in at least four different jurisdictions.

And before it gets asked.... As George Conway tweeted (yes, Kellyanne Conway's husband) a loan is also a campaign finance violation. If Cohen did this for Trump and then Trump repaid Cohen that's still a violation because then it becomes failure to disclose which is the equivalent of making a false statement.

Trump's lawyer did flip on him. Only it was Rudy who did the flipping, not Cohen. Rudy is the best witness against Trump :).

Wrong is wrong, no matter what party the person belongs to. This woman is tough. She deserved to have her claims taken seriously and in a timely manner.

Very true. No one should be "above the law" or treated differently for party affiliation or social status.

And Rudy has just waived Trump's attorney client privilege. Once you start sharing a part of the privilege communications in order to support your position you, as a matter of law, waive the rest of the privilege on those related conversations. Now every single communication between Trump and Cohen about Daniels and most likely during the summer 2016 to fall 2016 time frame has been waived by Rudy.

On point with this thread, the prosecution against Cohen was on hold so that a magistrate could examine the records seized from Cohen to look for attorney client privilege. I think this issue is now closed, with respect to Trump. Not in respect to Cohen's other two clients.

No surprise that I am not a Trump fan but jeez his lawyers are giving him bad advise and terrible service.

The reality is , that clinton is above the law. It's hard to believe that so many reasonably intelligent people allow him to continue to do as he pleases. It's a sad state of affairs for the many victims he's left in his wake.

Rudy just admitted that Trump fired Comey because of the Russian probe. We are seeing a new strategy - they can no longer deny the truth so they are trying to get ahead of the issue by reshaping the truth slightly with smaller more subtle deceptions. Remaking history. Now we are being told Comey was fired because he would not tell Trump that he was not the target of the investigation, however in the termination letter to Comey Trump wrote:

While I greatly appreciate you informing me, on three separate occasions, that I am not under investigation, I nevertheless concur with the judgment of the Department of Justice that you are not able to effectively lead the Bureau.

So it appears that Comey told Trump on three separate occasions that Trump was not even being investigated. Trump needed a fourth or fifth reassurance? That is just plain silly. IF you are not being investigated then you cannot be the "target of the investigation".

One has to wonder why Rudy is embarking on such a drastic and risky change of strategy. I believe they are terrified about what will be uncovered by the Cohen document review. These documents will undoubtedly confirm a whole host of other untruths told by Trump and associates.

One last point, we are constantly being reminded that lies told by government officials to the public or to the media is not a crime. I think it should be. These officials are fiduciaries of the people, they have a duty to be open and honest with us. When they lie making official statement on behalf of the government (other than for national security reasons) then they should be held accountable either by impeachment or through perjury charges. My suggestion is that rather than wasting time trying to pass even more gun control laws, congress should focus on laws that require government officials to be honest with the American people.

I may be totally wrong but I am thinking that Rudy is having some ill feelings that he was not appointed as the nation's top law enforcement officer, attorney general, or another cabnet postion and that is why he is now speaking out and releasing info. Like I said, I could be totally wrong.

He would have been a better choice than Sessions, as far as Trump was concerned.

Yes, its a bit hard to believe that anyone could be this bad at lawyering unintentionally.
