I buy some Taxidermy items and believe I get a few sting calls? Anyone know what is illegal to own or sell in Florida?
I am sure black bear and some duck mounts are illegal. How about a wolverine rug mount? Any help , I can't seem to narrow it down on wildlife sight?

most owls are illegal. anything that is a protected species, even some vultures. all eagles and hawks/falcons are i do believe.

as sb stated,if it were me,i would definately give fwc a call. you might be able to own some of the above if already mounted also. --- sawman

I didn't know we couldn't mount a bobcat we were in Eglin talking to SP and game warden. Said all we seen were two Bobcats told them I've always wanted one mounted he said I wouldn't do that. If I were you he said we can hunt them but have to have a trapping license to possess the pelt. I've never heard of this.

That fwc officer is flat out wrong about the bobcat.

I agree. I know several people who have mounted Bobcats.
Dan, you might want to get to know a taxidermist that you could call.
    They would know the laws.

The FWC lists flrules.org as the go to site for Wildlife Related Matters. The Florida Wildlife Code, Division Number 68A of the Florida Administrative Code, can be obtained at flrules.org. https://flrules.org/gateway/Division.asp?DivID=347 See rule 24 and 27

In speaking with the FWC you may want to insure they know you're not a fur dealer and the products you receive are not in the raw or (green) but are finished products from estates etc. Still, make sure they inform you specifically on those items that can be posessed only on authority of the FWC.

The Hunting Regulations Handbook gives some guidance on furbearing animals and other birds/reptiles/animals but if a person don't hunt they might not be aware. Any licensed taxidermist can advise you on the laws concerning trade, purchase and posession of game and non-game species; migratory or not, federally protected, etc. (This is valuable info but only supplemental to the FAC above)

I'd ask Chad Cooper honestly. He knows more about taxidermy than anyone around.

I can honestly say, I would not want to go hand to hand with one. It looks like one tough critter.

the wolverine can be legally trapped so i would think that it could be legally owned as a rug or as a mount .... full, head,or otherwise. --- sawman
