Got to get her in goldilocks mode!*** Calico got back with me. Good to go. Ordered scope rail and smoke case for the 50rd mag, can watch the bullets go round and impress the onlookers, lol.
Shot it today. Was pissed at first, didn't understand how to load it properly. Also found out 10 cranks on the drum is the MAX. Used 8 turns and it went just fine.
I thought you could release the spring and just "drop" the rounds in, nope. It's actually a TRIPLE stack mag. Turned the spring about 1/2 turn where I could see the follower and then started loading, as more rounds went in I would hit the button to release the spring. Once started properly it was a breeze to load.
Fast as I could snap the trigger it went boom. Hardly any recoil, nothing like the sub2k. ( roller locking)
Shot with and without the vertical foregrip. With it no issues, without it your support arm get pelted with hot brass.( bottom eject) so the "swiss" forgrip stays. Looks funky but works. View attachment 175047
Yep. After the initial frustration brought on by me, not the gun. Ran great. Love the single pin takedown. I wish more firearms, especially. 22's were like it. My other spaceguns are a pita to breakdown for cleaning. Hense they don't get cleaned as much.Got to get her in goldilocks mode!
That's pretty cool. I shot it again today. 30+ rds. No issues, loading is the key.Fun bit of trivia about the Calico. In the 90s I was doing props/weapons for film. Working on the first season of Walker, Texas Ranger, we had a scene downtown Dallas where the bad guy comes squealing around the corner in a van, hangs a full auto Calico out the window and empties the mag, and drives off. We shut down the streets (Thanksgiving Square - not a minor deal on a business day) the van comes around and we get "BANG" one shot. "CUT!!! What's wrong with the gun???" The stunt driver, name rhymes with BUnser, is complaining " I must be a pu$$sy, been shooting guns all my life, blah blah blah". With prop guns (auto cycling) we tap the barrel and put a gas restrictor in the end, carefully balanced so the gun will cycle with blanks. It is a delicate balance, and I always tell an actor "you must stiff arm the gun for it to cycle. Understand?" I asked for permission to fire the gun - get the go ahead. "BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAP"... 49 rounds. Looked at the full of himself stunt guy and shrugged, with a smirk. Full of himself prop guy I was that day. SO - I've fired a Calico - kinda....
Not bad, pulled apart and cleaned awhile back. Figured these mods would up the coolness and value.I heard those mags are super hard to assemble. I watched a video years ago about it. Yeah, that translucent mag is cool to watch the rounds spin around.
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing. Not bad, pulled apart and cleaned awhile back. Figured these mods would up the coolness and value. View attachment 176440
I think it might be more practical to raise the comb of the stock with some space junk...Went with the 2x truglo. Need to find something lower! View attachment 177401
Thought about two red dots on 45vdeg mounts, lolI think it might be more practical to raise the comb of the stock with some space junk...
I used one of these pieces of space junk on mine for a while. It worked, I think it migrated to my 10/22 though.I think it might be more practical to raise the comb of the stock with some space junk...
