    Browning A-5. Modern A-5.

Some RIO Blue Steel 3” hulls appear cut when ejected. Others have a rub mark. Doesn’t seem to happen on Winchester hulls. It’s not all but enough to concern me.

Haven’t had time to see if it were a particular firing order. Had an extended tube on for a conservation hunt. I’ve duck and spec hunted for several years with the shotgun never seen this happen.

    Thoughts??

Do you reload your hulls? If you don't stay away from Rio or don't worry about it. Sounds like ammo problem not gun related. Stick with what has worked for you in the past.

    Yes I reload

But this was a conservation hunt. No limit extended tube. 8 plus 1 in the gun. Wasn’t going to use Blind Side on a mass of snow geese. Went cheap.

Since we have to pick them up to clean the field I was inspecting mine. I also brought back a couple bags of more premium hulls.

I go through several dozen flats a year and frequently shoot with others who shoot more. I have never seen a hull failure like that. It doesn’t look gun induced to me. I have used some Rios in the past and never cared for them. Seeing this I won’t be buying any more.

I’ve shot Rio birdshot with no issues. When duck and goose hunting I’ve always used Winchester Blind Side or Heavishot or BlackCloud with no issues. I’ve shot cases of shells thru the wicked wings A5 with no issues. This concerned me. I had installed a Briley extended tube but there is nothing that could caused this issue other than shells. It’s a pretty hot BB shell.
