FS, 1953 Hungarian M44 carbine in 7.62x54r. Shifting my collecting focus a bit. I bought this specimen for my interest in the WW2-Cold War era. An amazing piece of Cold War history is the 1956 Hungarian Revolution or uprising, which was ultimately put down by the Soviets. Western news magazines and reporters brought this fighting to front page America and Europe and the west was cheering them on. Though brief, the Hungarians showed that people yearning to be free of socialism could indeed fight back, producing many national heroes. Many photos from the time show ordinary folks carrying captured Soviet block weapons like this M44. This 1953 carbine would have been in Hungary's military at the time of the uprising.
I am asking $425 for this less common M44. This 1953 carbine is in excellent condition overall. Parts are marked with the Soviet block country code for Hungary, 02. All numbers match except for the bolt (a common thing). The bore is excellent, crown is tight. The tiny import mark is on the barrel, not a "billboard". The stock is well stamped elm wood with good figure. Firearm and history lesson all in one. Thanks for looking. Contact me by PM on this board.
