There are a ton of side by side comparisons all across the internet. Youtube has some great ones.
Its always best to try and get your hands on both and see how YOU like each of them. Everybody has different opinions as to why they prefer one over the other.

I like both of them equally, my choice came down to the price, the glock IMO didn't feel like it was worth $100+ more than the shield so the shield came home.

Colion Noir, and vickers tactical both did pretty good side by side reviews, my wife carries a shield and loves it

I have had both and sold the Glock. I liked it but my decision came down to which I shot better so shield it was.

the Shield is surprisingly soft shooting for its size. very good and reliable gun.

I love my Glock 17 and my 19, and I'm going to eventually buy a 43. But I am seriously considering buying a Shield for the holidays.

43 is a smaller, more concealable gun, fits great in my pocket, whereas I see the shied as a thin IWB gun, that is naturally larger and therefore more shoot able than the 43. It just depends on what it is that you intend to do with it exactly.

Thanks, Dan. That's kinda what I needed to know. I've owned a Shield and liked it, but it was a belt gun. I'm looking for something reliable that I can fit in a pocket but still have fun shooting. I have seen +1 and +2 mag extensions for the 43 on Hickok45's channel. I'm leaning that direction if I can find a good deal on one.

Want a true pocket gun? Get a 42. A 43 may not be for everyone's pockets

The extensions bring it more into shield size, with the +1 approaching flush shield height and the +2, extended shield size. But then the slide on the shield is taller as well.
Thee extensions may be just fine for the range, but unless they come with a quality replacement mag spring, I would keep them as range gear only. Jmo

    Yes, that makes sense.

I have looked at the 42 as well as other .380 pistols.
My primary pistol is a Sig P229 in 9mm so it makes sense to stick with 9mm.

I find myself not carrying the 229 unless the weather is cooler and I can wear an untucked shirt.
I need something small enough that I will actually carry it every day.

I used to carry my Shield all the time but soon found it was just too big for my pocket. Finally landed on a M&P Bodyguard .380 that truly is a pocket gun and fit all my needs. I carry it more than I do the Shield now.

Make no mistake though, I love my Shield and still carry it when appropriate.
