So after years of the blank frame just sitting there i finally decided to take it somewhere and have it built. It's a Caspian titanium commander frame. i did lots of looking at 1911's and really wanted something unique and one of kind that i could also carry and would just look and function better with time. I went in several times to talk to the guys at precision tactical, got lots of feedback and felt really comfortable having them do the work. It took some time to get her done but man was it worth the wait. (not their fault on the delays) Due to the weight of the frame i was concerned with recoil and actually usability. Because of this and because all my other pistols are 40's i decided to have it chambered in the same. Here are the progress pics of it. The guys at precision have done an AMAZING job bringing the vision i had in my head into a reality. I have not fired her yet but have held it, cycled it and played with it a little and it is an amazing piece. I should be picking it up next week when i get back and i can't wait. BIG Thanks to all the guys at precision. They really have gone above and beyond with this thing!

Very cool Robbie! It's great to see the progress. Definitely a "one-off" 1911.

Very impressive! It looks futuristic yet battle worn antique. It would have been a tough decision for me on caliber too but ultimately its use would drive it. I was considering value in general and a custom 1911 build in .40S&W would be a rare find and tip the scales in that direction.
    Well done!

Whoa very cool man. The guys at ptac do a great job, I had a refinish done there as well, but did not know they could do something that unique. Looks like I may have to get another piece done

It's called distressed bronze cerakote. The pics actually don't do it justice. It's not as shiny in person.

Very nice. Try to not contaminate it with that Glock rubber pad.

Haha. No way. VZ's are on to say!

very nice, what a great look..just too bad you did not decide on a 45

I've had my 45's but with all the retardedness anymore I don't want to have to stockpile another caliber.

haha.....thanks man. so far i love this thing. i STILL haven't gotten to shoot it but just handling it i love it. working out the last kinks in the safety and feed ramp then i'll get to shoot.

Very nice. How much does a custom 1911 like that cost?

that's a very good question. I am not sure what i have into it would be as much as most. you could get a ball park idea by adding up the cost of a caspian titanium frame (550 i believe), caspian slide & barrel, which was actually a gift to me, all wilson combat parts (i'll have that total soon) and that's it as far as parts. the rest is labor and CnC work which I'm not going to go into details about, but lets just say there were some unexpected delays and Precision Tactical took AMAZING care of me to make up for it. I am super impressed with their customer service and they have made a customer for life.
