For your consideration is a USGI Savage M720 which can be verified by the stampings on the receiver and barrel. On the receiver you will notice a US a P proof mark as well as the US Army flame ordnance bomb as well as on the barrel.
This is a very unique M720 being it has “Three Shot” stamped into the receiver. The M720 is a Browning A5 clone which is a 5 shot weapon. This is not a WWII arial gunner training shot gun. It is more than likely a 1939 to 1942 USGI riot or base security shotgun because of the 18.5” barrel.
What follows is a copy and paste of a email from Cody Firearms Records Office in association with The Buffalo Bill Center of the West.
A factory letter is the official report of the information contained in the original company records which the Museum cares for. Unfortunately, the records for your firearm no longer exist and we are not able to provide a letter for you. A list of available models and serial number ranges is attached to this email. There is a gap in the Model 720 records from SN 39636 (about 1937) to 55500 (about 1942).
