    If that's the painted wood stock, usually the best thing you can do is strip the paint off & stain it to your favorite color, then Tru-oil it!!
    Parawood is usually quite figured and oh...yeah, DO NOT USE MINWAX stains on it, as the sap does NOT react well to it.
    Use General Finishes, Formby's, pretty much any high-quality stain. Don't go cheap.

    If it's the Synthetic, Krylon plastic paints work wonders :)

    And yeah, they usually shoot great! Sights are pretty good!
    I had a Squires-Bingham version before they became ARMSCOR, nice rifle!
