A friend has a rat problem, so I went over this evening to see what I could do. My plan was to spot with thermal, have a green light on my 22 rifle and kill with 22 CB caps. Easy to spot with thermal, but rats would run when hit with green light. 22 rifle has no provision to mount thermal on it. Gotta come up with a new plan, but I still managed to get three. They were bigger than I thought they’d be.

A cat! I shot and poisoned them for years! Wooded area behind house! They just kept coming!’ Got an inside cat that ended up outside most of the time! No more rats! Rats are actually very smart. They told their friends, go somewhere else!

We used to shoot them with rat shot and leave a body laying where the rats could see it. They usually left in a day or two.

Looking at what I have, I noticed my Ruger Precision Rimfire. It has a pic rail. Will remove its scope and mount thermal and see if it will allow a 30’ zero. I have Sawman’s ATN thermal. It will focus down to about 6‘, so the focusing aspect is taken care of.

I use a Heritage .22 wheel gun, using the LR cylinder, and a Ruger mark 1 (or 2?) both using ratshot.
The crimped ratshot did better than the blue-cap cci ratshot at stopping them.
Seemed like the blue caps never expelled the #12 shot so it was just punching holes through them.
I'm sure they died eventually, but there were some I shot several times, seemed like it didn't even faze 'em,
they'd keep on running around like it was their birthday or sumpin'.
They mussa been on PCP cause theyz weren't feeling no pain.

You can record with those ATNs correct? If so… we want to see. :)
There was an optional cord to rca jack video output connector that could be purchased. It was never bought. No built in recorder on this older model.

ATN thermal mounted and sighted on at 30’. At 20’ it hits 1” low. At 40’ it hits 1” high.
