I'm new to the reloading scene and have a couple questions. First has anyone used ramshot silhouette powder. I bought a pound of it and reloaded 100 45 ACP rounds with it. Shoots great, but since the grains are so fine it kept gumming up the powder measure. That made for some really slow reloading. Anyone have any advice for another pistol powder? I only used roughly 80 grains out of the lb so there is plenty of powder left if anyone is interested in it. I paid $26.99.
    Thanks in advance.

What kind of powder measure? Usually the finer powders meter better but I have not used that specific powder. I use Red Dot for plinking and Blue Dot for more serious loads. I was actually working up some test loads tonight with Green Dot. I seem to be able to find the "Dot" powders easier lately but Red Dot I have used in .45 ACP for 40 years.

Its the powder measure that came with the single lee press hit. It is mostly plastic and when I load 556 in it, the bigger grains have shaved a little bit of the plastic at the opening of the measure tube. I think it is letting it escape through there. After 20-30 rounds it gets so gritty that I have to take it apart and clean for fear of breaking the plastic around the mounts. I really just need to get a entire metal one but I just haven't gotten to it yet. I do like the powder though. I reloaded some with clays shotgun and pistol powder and it shot fine through a 1911 but the xd would cycle properly and a lot of unburned powder would fall out the end of the spend casings.

Do yourself a favor and spend $35 on the Lee auto disk pro. It will save you tons of time when reloading handgun ammo. It also works well for 223 plinking ammo when used with the Lee rifle charging die.
