The MP5 is in a class all its own. It can not be compared to modern stuff. Modern stuff just stomps a mudhole in an MP5's butt. So I'll compare the MP5 to it's direct competitors a way back when it was new technology. I'd much rather have a Sterling or a PPS43C than an MP5. I have owned both. I've rented full auto Uzi's and a grease gun and a Reising. All very cool. I never even took a second look at the MP5. The PPS43C is my favorite out of all of the old school PCC's, with excellent balance, ergonomics and controls with no failures, with a helluva fast shooting flat trajectory armor piercing Tokarev cartridge
