Am tossing around the idea of picking up a pistol caliber carbine...what's out there and any suggestions/comments by those that have one? Starting the initial looks, am thinking around the $1000 +/- a couple hundred price range.

    Thanks in advance! Cheers!

Sure do Bob. The above pic was taken by me of one of my guns.

    Here is another "carbine" that I own. A 10ga throwin' a 766gr slug,cuttin' a almost 3/4 inch hole. --- SAWMAN

I know they often get bashed on the gun forums, but my uncle has a .40 High Point carbine he's pretty happy with. I have shot a CX4 storm like Sawman's got (but in 9mm) and liked it very much too. Personally I've always wanted to try out one of those KelTec Sub2000 because I read they can be adapted to take the CZ75 magazines of which I have a plethora of.

Looking for a carbine .. another consideration might be ---> you might want to limit your search to guns that are blowback operated. Like the above Beretta you can use flat nosed (WFNGC and WLNGC) hardcast bullets. Especially with a ramped bbl.

My gun will feed full wadcutters. It has a bbl that I do not consider ramped although it does have a small channel on the face of the chamber. When I got the gun I highly polished the chamber, bbl hood(as in Glock)and bbl "ramp". --- SAWMAN

The Beretta CX4 Storm is a ton of fun and plenty accurate at pistol caliber ranges. I have one in 9mm and I'm Jones'n for a .45 ACP. My wife has never been excited about guns and shooting but when she shot this she fell in love. It's now her primary home defense (with a light/laser combo). A big plus for some is that it can be converted to left hand operation in a matter of minutes. Oh yeah, they take any size Beretta 92 magazines.

    from Beretta web site.
"The operating handle, safety and magazine release are reversible and give you the opportunity to train or shoot right- or left-handed, while case ejection can also be switched from right to left."

Thanks all for all the comments. Yep, call me a dumbass. Should have specified semi-auto, magazine fed, for USPSA style shooting. Was looking at the Beretta Storm, as well as the CZ Scorpion, now that it's available in a couple versions without having to SBR it. Whoohoo!!

I love pistol carbines... Got the Beretta Storm 9mm with threaded barrel (Yes 922r Compliant) HK UMP .45 (SBR & Converted from USC) and the Keltec Sub2000 Gen 2 9mm.

Oh, and it is totally guaranteed to honk off Liberals,
due to the mags capacity of 50 or 100 rounds ;)
