Yep, this appeared a few days ago on the news with info that the NRA has asked Trump to intervene to stop this, before it gets really rolling under new orders from Obama, this is an old directive with new legs, because the SSA and VA have both become involved in reporting "mentally deficient" benefit recipients, without review. That no review and then no appeal is seen as a very serious problem. The VA is particularly egregious in that they are supposedly reporting anyone diagnosed with PTSD, even by an interviewer, with no medical training. Remember that background check directive that said they, FBI, would not allow appeals of a denial. Basically under this step by step process you might be denied ownership of a firearm, without due process.

Had lunch with two disabled vets (Wounded Warriors) several days ago after a hunt. Both were blown up in the "sandbox". Both are missing partial limbs, both are also claiming PTSD. Both have been in the VA programs for at least 4 years.
Both are worried about their rights being taken away. BUT what is at least as important . . . they are worried about their fellow servicemen that have refused to go to VA and state that they are having any (at all) mental issues whatsoever. These people feel that they need help to some degree, but they feel that once they even let on that it is mental, all of their rights will be taken away. One told me that he wont even tell his doctor that he has dreams, any kind of dream.
I really wish that these vets had some kind of "go between", before they get in the VA system. --- SAWMAN
