I started carrying full insurance even though mine is paid for. Geico beat USAA so I switched several years back. Once I got hit twice I put dash cams in both vehicles.

In the last 6 months I've been wrecked 2x while standing still! I December, while stopped on Scenic Highway at a light, I was rear-ended by a pickup truck from Seattle Wash., with no insurance and a bogus address. Guess what! The FHP let him go! POOF! Destroyed my car!
Last Saturday, while leaving the gun show at the fair grounds and while sitting in the driveway, I was hit by a car flying down Pine Forest Road! Hit my front end and snapped off my wheel / axle assembly - totaled by USAA! My loss, again!

I need a used car, 2-3k +/-!!!! Any ideas folks!

If you are looking for that few miles and you want to go through a dealer, I would check with Frontier Motors first and then it's going to be the regular dealers because that is pretty low miles for a used car. Best of luck to you. You sure need a turn around. You should definitely have Dash cams with your luck.

We've always kept full coverage on our vehicles, even though paid off. USAA paid out near $7000.00 total between our two Jeep Grand Cherokees (1996 Limited & 2000 Laredo) after Michael came through.

That money was enough to get a dependable gas guzzler Ford Expedition Limited. I'll worry about getting something to run local errands later, depending on what my health does.

I've been in two serious accidents. 2001 a semi with a trailer backed into me on base, then tried to say it was my fault and I hit him. My insurance company thought maybe I was nuts when I started laughing. Told her, Japanese car makers are way ahead of US makers. When asked why, I told her my Honda Passport also drives sideways, not just forward and reverse. Then told her the SOB T-boned me before I had the SUV in drive. I was just started to shift from park to drive from park when I see the ass-end of the trailer on the passenger side of my SUV. After that I was just along for the ride.

My other one was in 1989, in Germany had an accident while I was cruising just under a 100 MPH, I missed the car in front of me (Good thing it was a Yugo and being crushed between two cars would have killed her). We both Hit the 1976 Mercedes in front of her and I totaled it, pushed it into the rear of a Mercedes coupe dinging the rear bumper up. After the accident I drove my 1977 Opel Diplomat B back to the base with an escort, and caught a ride with my neighbor home. Next day I drove my car home. Only damage front passenger fender curled into the wheel well, and a crease in the hood almost the width of the car. New fender and drove it for another 6 months, then sold it to a local that wanted parts from it for the restoration of his.

All this occured because as I crested the hill, I noticed I was gaining too quick, released the gas, was just starting to slow down when doors on the vehicles up the ways started to open. There was a two car accident, then the Mercedes coupe behind them, the Mercedes, Yugo and then me.

Still remember the name of the guy I hit, he was a crew dog in the 7th SOS, and ran into (Saw) him around 1998 at Hurlburt with the 8th SOS.
