Just a quick question, or two, about this process since I'm new to it. I submitted my form 1 on Jan 12th and they took the money out on Jan 14th. Is that normal? I would of thought that they wouldn't take it out until close to the very end after it had met all the wickets and was going to be approved. And also, when I look at the form 1 on my account it already has a "Permit Number". Will this eventually be like a tax stamp number or it is used for anything that you guys know of?

Yep, they always take the money first. If something comes up where they don't issue the tax stamp they will refund the $200; it just takes them a while to do it. The permit number is for their use. When you do a paper copy they write that number across the stamp, but not on the electronic copies.

Wow, after many many times I got my trust uploaded and completed the Form 1 tonight for my first NFA item. No pic, no compliance and Credit Card went through smoothly. Hardest ting was getting my trust to less that the 3 MB part. Still took two efforts with it below 1MB.

Now to see how long the wait is. As soon as this one is approved, I am ready for my second one, for a can!

Just wondering as it's been 21 days now and should be getting close, so wondered if that might populate the closer it got to being approved. I'm just impatient is all, and I can't wait to slap the stock on this thing and let the lead fly.

I filed two form 1's this week. One populated the number within minutes; one still does not have a number.

Got mine back today. Submitted 1/12/15 and Finalized 2/22/15, so 42 days altogether. Oh yeah, and the internal control number never populated, so that answers one question.

So how long it take to get the real stamp in the mail?

And just another question for you all. One of the guys at my gun club told me I should keep the original with my trust docs and keep a copy with the SBR. Is this good advice, ok to do, or just wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

See above. Nothing will come in the mail. The emailed copy is the only copy you get.
I have my own feeling about showing people my stamps, but what I do is keep a copy uploaded to my Google drive. So anywhere I have my phone/tablet I could show it.

(Technically only an ATF agent can ask to see your stamp. Local law enforcement cant really make you show it. But then they can take you to jail for violation of 790.221. It would be your defense in court to show your stamp. But do you really want to go that route?)

Learn something every day. Did they used to mail out real stamps?

I've seen something at the club that looked like a real stamp on a form, I could tell it's old though.

And this is my understanding of the internal control number, its like a purchase order number, etc for the person filing it.
Think of shop like SS, etc. They file thousands a year.
Say if Joe Blow is customer # 001, in MY tracking system, and he files 3 stamps. I can list his "internal control" number as 001-001, 001-002, 001-003, etc in MY computer.
I can assign that number to his stamp application so I can keep them in order in MY COMPUTER.
Again, thats how I understand it to work. YMMV.

Yes you can still get paper stamps.
Paper forms that are mailed in are getting paper stamps.
Form 4's, etc right now are getting paper stamps since they have to be mailed in.

    Copy.

One last question. Do you have to show all four pages on this doc they send you or just the first page with the stamp? All the others don't have anything on them really.

Hard question to answer. Chances are the local law enforcement that asks to look at them aren't going to know what they are looking for anyway.
If the person does know what they are looking for, then they will ask you if something is missing needed.
IMHO, the stamp is the big part. If you have that, you are GTG.
But Im just some dork ont he internet. What do I know?

Well I'm just some dork on the net as well that keeps asking a bunch of questions. Thanks for the patience with me guys, I'm a newbie at all this. I'm just going to keep the stamp page with the SBR.
