Need Optics Recommendation

So... I need a scope for my AR-15 to use on varmints at a range of about 100 yards with a Horus reticle.

• Is it possible/a good idea/bad idea to have scope that would be effective from 100 - 1,000 yards?
• What would be a good dirt cheap to mid-range scope to get?
• Does a scope buying guide/calculator exist?

You can pay more for a scope than the firearm....but after a while you will not regret it

i just went thru a similar search. i got some good advice from some folks on this forum. i also watched a lot of youtube videos. i can really recommend this 17 part series.



i found it very imformative. in the end i came down to a list of preferences for my needs and two brands i was going to choose from. i ended up with a Leupold VX-3HD 4.5-14X50 CDS-ZL DUPLEX bought on tax holiday from gulf coast guns. i am very happy. good luck.

I have a bushnell XRSII for sale, dirt cheap with an H59 reticle. Only reason I’m getting rid of it is I moved over to the XRSIII and DMRIIIs. It’s Japanese made at the LOW plant. Same place 90% of quality scopes are made.

theres no scope to do it all that i have found. more magnification than you think you need is my advise. plenty of good options out there for reasonable money... good luck on your search!
