So the Civilian Marksmanship Program is on Round 2 of 1911 purchases by qualified civilians to own a USGI 1911-A1. I put in my paperwork, signed, sealed, notarized back in Feb 2021. I got an email notification in Aug 2021 or my randomly generated number (RGN 29,905). It took until March 2022 to be notified of what’s actually available to order. Only Field ($950) and Rack ($850) were available. Service is the highest grade ($1050). I was called a few weeks ago and requested a whole Gun, meaning all Colt or Ithaca or Remington Rand. I even explained to the lady I was a Retired Marine. She didn’t care, basically she said you get what we send once you choose, so keep that in mind if you want to order when round 3 opens up.
I got a Remington Rand lower built in 1943, with a modern era 77990314 (Israeli Military Industries TZ) hardened slide. Not exactly sure when made by them yet. Since I've always wanted one, I’m ok with what I have. Some have done better, most get a mix-master and a few got really jacked up crap from pics I have seen. Feel free to comment on any and all knowledge you have of mil 1911’s.
